SUMMER LEADERS ANNOUNCEMENT

TITLE OF POSITION: SUMMER QUEST LEADER


DEPARTMENT: THE LIBERTY PARTNERSHIPS PROGRAM

                           THE GRADUATE SCHOOL OF SOCIAL SERVICE

Position Summary: Under the supervision of The Liberty Partnerships Summer Program Coordinator, program leaders organize and assist in program efforts to provide academic and enrichment opportunities for at-risk youth in The Bronx on The Fordham University Rose Hill campus.


SPECIFIC JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

-      Must develop and instruct several dynamic workshops throughout (5) consecutive weeks in ONE of the following areas: Dance, Theatre/Performing Arts, Fashion, Film & Cinematography, Painting/Drawing, Low ropes course, Fitness, S.T.E.M, etc.

-      Develop and implement age appropriate project based activity in preparation for final showcase performance

-      Provide daily supervision and ensure the safety of a group of 15-20 youth

-      Manage student behavior and act as a positive role model

-      Provide support to assigned group of students during academic enrichment

-      Maintain contact with and provide daily anecdotals regarding program participants

to Liberty Partnerships staff

-      Ensure safety of students both during daily programming and on enrichment trips

-      Participate in mandatory 3 day training prior to summer program

-      Perform other program related tasks as assigned by the summer program coordinator 

QUALIFICATIONS:

- Must be a current college student or recent graduate

- Strong planning and organizational background

- Able to develop and implement a curriculum for students between the ages of 12-17

- Experience working with youth from underserved areas

- First Aid, CPR, RTE certification a plus

- Excellent written and verbal communication

- Must be available for three-day paid training on June 20th- 22nd. Exact times to be determined.

        HOURS:  8:00 a.m. - 4 p.m. Monday-Thursday (*extended hours on trip days)

Program Timeframe: July 9th- August 9th  

 SALARY:  $13 per hour/ 4 days per week/ 5 weeks
