Department: Program Implementation & Country Management (PICM)

Reports To: PICM, Manager

Location: Washington, DC

Classification: Full-time, non-exempt


How will you fight for an AIDS-free generation?


Our Country Officer (CO) functions as an integral team member of the programs team, while also backstopping, representing, and supporting programs implemented in Malawi. Our CO acts as a liaison between Malawi and the US, while providing support and coordination in program and agreement management, country representation, and technical work and strategic guidance.


No two days are alike at EGPAF, but what can you expect in this role?

Program & Agreement Management Support

·      Routinely monitor program progress and identify best practices, lessons learned, and areas for improvement, including short-term technical assistance needs

·      Coordinate input and facilitate internal review process to support the development of program work

·      Review and update sub-agreements, grantee reports, and programmatic and organizational budgets


Country Representation

·      Support day-to-day communications and foster teamwork between the US and Malawi

·      Identify and coordinate technical assistance for program design, work plan development, reporting, monitoring and evaluation, and operations research, advocating for the needs and concerns of the country program

·      Participate in and/or lead department meetings, brown bags, and presentations to share key information with the country program

·      Respond to internal and external requests about the country program


Technical Work & Strategic Guidance

·      Contribute to the strategic direction of the country program by participating in program planning, facilitation, and coordination

·      Support and actively participate in the regular updating and use of country strategic plan

·      Support and/or lead analysis and documentation of best practices and innovations taking place in-country

·      Support new business development initiatives, including preparation, strategic planning, drafting a narrative, and reviewing, editing and formatting proposal information


To be successful, you will have:


·      BA/BS in Public Health or a related field

·      4 years of experience working in national and/or international health programs

·      The ability to take 2 international field visits per year; if you’ve traveled to or lived in Africa, we’d love to hear where you’ve been!

·      Have demonstrated leadership in the following competencies: team building, customer service, and decisiveness


Bonus points if you have:

 

·      Experience with USG awards, such as USAID, CDC, HHS, or NIH
