Background

The Institute for Natural Medicine envisions optimal health and wellbeing through the transformation of the healthcare system by education about and promotion of the principles and practices of natural medicine.


We strive to achieve this mission through initiatives related to:

  • Education – Reveal the unique benefits of natural medicine
  • Access – Connect potential patients to Licensed NDs
  • Research – Expand the research database on comparative clinical studies


As we grow, we are seeking to add our first full-time marketing & communications employee to our team so that we can amplify our message and expand our reach to healthcare consumers, providers and influencers.


Summary

This position requires a passionate, driven individual to create and implement plans to develop marketing and communication strategies and initiatives. As the competition for consumers' attention grows stronger every day, this role will be responsible to attract public engagement with INM and the naturopathic profession, and to increase market visibility and engagement of the naturopathic profession with INM. As the first marketing staff member for INM, the role will be responsible to develop and manage external resources, including contractors and volunteers, collaborating partner organizations (e.g. state associations) and oversee execution of marketing strategy, initiatives, and tactics.  This position reports to INM’s President and is responsible for oversight of INM’s website, content, copywriting, video, design and communications. search engine optimization, social media and email automation. This position is responsible for delivering projects of high quality, on time and to budget through the effective management of time, people and resources.


Responsibilities

  • Manage the planning, scheduling, development, and execution of marketing and communications initiatives
  • Oversight of the INM website, including SEO, SEM, and analytics
  • Accept new project requests; work with stakeholders to ensure briefs thoroughly define all objectives, directions, and requirements
  • Contribute ideas for communications strategies and drive social media for INM
  • Lead the project initiation process by helping define scope, determine action items, assign ownership, and create project timelines
  • Oversee project execution; coordinating team efforts to optimize workflow and maximize efficiency
  • Conduct weekly status meetings and traffic meetings as required
  • Monitor projects to ensure deadlines and targets are met while satisfying quality standards and aligning with core objectives
  • Supervises external marketing and communication resources/contractors
  • Reviews drafts from team contributors for clarity, conciseness, logic, flow, tone, completeness, accuracy, consistency, and credibility
  • Route project components for internal approvals as necessary
  • Track and report progress to relevant stakeholders
  • Continually develop and refine processes to improve deliverable quality and team efficiency


Preferred Education and Work Experience

  • At least 5 years professional experience with demonstrated success as a core driver for marketing and/or social media for non-profit or for-profit company
  • College degree or equivalent experience required (focus in marketing, communications, public relations, social media)
  • Strong written and verbal language skills in English
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, the Internet and all social media channels/tools

  • Superior communication skills; possess an assertive personality that can communicate assertively while maintaining productive relationships and good rapport with colleagues
  • Fluency with various marketing activities and deliverables including web pages, print and digital collateral, videos, digital assets, SEO, SEM, emails, white papers, advertising, social media activities, content creation, presentations, and reporting
