How will you fight for an AIDS-free generation?

We are seeking an Sr. Innovation Officer for our Innovation and New Technology Team to identify new tools, technologies, and models of care that may improve the health and healthcare of the populations we serve and ultimately contribute to the end of AIDS, tuberculosis and related co-morbidities. The incumbent will work to investigate these potentially useful innovations, including summarizing the supporting data, assess their utility for the populations with which we work and recommend the most useful tools and models of care for further development. The Sr. Innovation Officer will also support assessment of the current challenges of the HIV response within and beyond our programs and coordinate across EGPAF to lead in proposal development to garner resources to support innovations within EGPAF’s programming.

The Sr. Innovation Officer will provide support to the Senior Director, Innovation and New technology and to the Innovation Team. Drawing from the results of literature reviews, intelligence gathering, and analysis, the Sr. Innovation Officer will engage with targeted global researchers, manufacturers, normative agencies, partners, donors, coalitions and other relevant stakeholders to gauge interest and capacity to support the sustainable introduction of innovations and to strategically advocate for priority innovations through a variety of channels and fora. This work will require collaboration with other units within EGPAF as well as the development or writing of concept notes, grant proposals, advocacy strategies, conference abstracts and papers for publication in peer reviewed journals. It may also require participation in and organization of stakeholder meetings to discuss promising innovations and how to operationalize and/or bring them to scale. This role will also bring the opportunity to work closely with our country offices and partners, where you will bring technical expertise to current and new projects to support successful rollout and implementation of new innovations.

No two days are alike at EGPAF, but what can you expect as a Sr. Innovation Officer?

·       Develops and executes an annual work plan that aims to support the implementation of the organization-wide innovation strategy

·       Provides technical expertise and analysis within the Innovation and New Technology Team, EGPAF as a whole, and in-country partners and staff

·       Support and/or lead selection criteria, roll out plans, integration of new interventions into national health systems, market shaping activities, and communication with stakeholders/partners surrounding project specific grant deliverables

·       Scans the current research on prevention, diagnosis, care and treatment of HIV, TB and related co-morbidities for innovative tools and/or models of care that may hold promise for further development;

·       Supports the Innovation and New Technology team by providing research and intelligence gathering capacity including, but not limited to:

o  searching, analyzing and summarizing literature;

o  analyzing new tools and models of care and summarizing their clinical data, cost data and potential utility in the context in which EGPAF works;

o  producing concept notes and documents for internal discussion and potential presentation to interested external parties; and

o  supporting proposal development and grant writing.

·       Supports the assessment of challenges to the HIV epidemic and beyond by working with other EGPAF teams including program implementation, research, monitoring and evaluation and public policy and advocacy.

·       Act as a key resource to staff in-country, including development of support materials, guides and publications, country coordination support and technical assistance

·       Assesses the landscape for potential external partners that EGPAF can collaborate with in introducing innovations.

·       Participates in relevant global and regional coalitions and working groups to gather intelligence and strategically position and promote EGPAF as an innovation leader

·       Creates and maintains a database with calls for proposals, RFPs, RFAs that could be of interest for EGPAF Innovation team.

·       Supports the organization of innovation events, such as the EGPAF-wide Innovation Forum.

·       Support countries with the introduction and expansion of innovation hubs in collaboration with Research and Strategic Information & Evaluation units.

·       Support countries to identify and harvest programmatic innovations that can be replicated across the foundation in collaboration with the Technical Leadership & Program Optimization, and External Technical Assistance teams.

To be successful, you will have…

·       8 years of relevant experience; experience should include global health and contributions to the design and/or implementation of complex health intervention projects

·       Master’s level or above in a relevant field (medicine, public health, healthcare management, health care innovation, development, epidemiology, or pharmacy)

·       Familiarity with searching medical databases, such as PubMed, Embase, etc

·       Fluency in English

·       The ability to work in a multi-cultural environment and partner with colleagues in a range of function areas and geographies

·       Demonstrated leadership in the following competencies: Customer service, Decisiveness, Team Building

Bonus points if you have…

·       Record of successful proposal development and manuscript publication

·       Knowledge of French and/or Portuguese

·       Knowledge of Monitoring & Evaluation frameworks (design and implementation)

·       Direct experience with health systems in low- and middle-income countries
