The Center for Migration Studies of New York (CMS), a non-profit educational institute and think-tank devoted to the study of international migration, seeks to hire a full-time development coordinator. The development coordinator will be responsible for fundraising at the individual, foundation and corporate levels and organizing special donor events. The development coordinator will report to the Executive Director (ED) and will:

·        Work with the ED, board, and staff on the conceptualization, development, and submission of grant proposals.

·        Produce interim and final reports for funders and ensure proper and timely filing.

·        Maintain and update grant documents, funding calendars, and grant tracking and reporting. 

·        Research, identify, and contact potential new donors and cultivate existing donors.

·        Establish and help maintain relationships with foundations and corporate donors.

·        Process gifts and draft acknowledgment letters.

·        Create strong fundraising messaging that appeals to potential sponsors.

·        Design and execute CMS’s mid-year, year-end, and special campaign appeals, both mailings, and online appeals.

·        Develop and execute CMS’s corporate fundraising strategy and create new ways to engage corporate donors in CMS’s work. Prepare materials describing sponsorship opportunities.

·        Lead the planning and execution of the annual fundraising gala and other fundraising events.

·        Conduct outreach to existing and potential donors and partners around event sponsorship and ensure delivery of sponsorship benefits.

·        Ensure that all legal reporting requirements are satisfied

 

CMS seeks a candidate with excellent writing and interpersonal skills, ability to take initiative, and great organizational skills. Bachelor’s degree required (graduate degree preferred). A minimum of 2 years of professional experience focused on resource development, fundraising, marketing, communications or related field is required. A desire to pursue a career in resource development is strongly preferred. Must be able to work independently and to meet multiple deadlines. Ability to work effectively in a growth-driven environment and to communicate well with colleagues, donors, funders, and constituents a must. The ideal candidate should be interested in advancing CMS’s mission. The annual salary for this exempt position is $55,000 - $60,000, commensurate with experience. CMS offers excellent benefits, including a generous health insurance plan, employer-paid dental and vision coverage, and a tax-deferred annuity plan.
