Description

Purpose: The Community Health Outreach Program & Policy positions, under the direction of the Senior Programs Director, are responsible for helping to implement projects at schools and among low-income communities in the Sacramento. Projects include multiple grant funded education programs including asthma education programs, public transit education programs, electric vehicle education programs and anti-tobacco education.


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Help develop, build and maintain collaborative relationships with volunteers,

schools, grantors, and other partners.


Program implementation

Actively participate on community coalitions.

Help recruit, train, and retain new and current volunteers.

Attend and participate in Policy Committee and Collaborative meetings.

Help implement new outreach education programs.

Implement and advocate for local community health strategies.

Help develop community education materials (guides, post cards, posters,

flyers, etc.).

If interested, proactively research and write about relevant community health

topics for blog postings and other education materials.

Participate in community outreach events.

Requirements:

Experience with community health outreach and education.

Effective project management, including planning, implementation and

evaluation.

Strong speaking and writing skills

Understanding of public health, local, regional and state governance

Excellent ability to work with people and demonstrated credibility

Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively and professionally

Nonprofit experience as either a volunteer or as a professional

Proficient with computers including use of Word, Excel, Access, etc.

Ability to work independently.

Good organizational, communication skills.

Must be nonsmoker.

Fluency in a second language preferred, but not required.

Desired Schedule:

Approximately 37.5 hours per week.
