The Director of Development will develop and implement a comprehensive development plan that will include fundraising (annual fund, capital campaign, fundraising events, grants), alumni relations and community partnerships.

This is a Part-time, year-round salaried position. The hours will likely be closer to full time initially.

Reports to: Principal of the Academy

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

  1. Create a Development plan for approval by the Development Committee of the Board of Trustees.
  2. Create and manage Development calendar.
  3. Manage the Annual Fund for all constituencies, including marketing, outreach, solicitations and coordination with a printer and mailing house.
  4. Provide monthly progress reports of all ongoing campaigns or development efforts.
  5. Work with Diocese to manage CAP and database for alumni contributions.
  6. Cultivate/steward current donors.
  7. Create/develop alumni relationships. Develop and implement a plan for engaging alumni.
  8. Create/develop community partnerships. Identify and cultivate community or other relevant organizations as partners in the Academy.
  9. Assist admissions/marketing director with maintaining all social media relevant to development efforts.
  10. Identify and apply for grants, track status of grants pending and monitor the funding and spending on grants that have been granted.
  11. Support the SSCA Parent Association with any galas and other fundraising events.
  12. Prepare development and other reports as requested by Principal or Board of Trustees. Host, together with Development Committee Chair, regular Development Committee meetings.
  13. Oversee assistant with entry of all gifts. Timely prepare donation acknowledgement letters and assure monthly reconciliation with Business Office.
  14. A general willingness to support and be part of the Academy’s leadership team.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred.
  • Special Knowledge/Skills: This position requires a deep knowledge of fundraising principles and practices at a school or nonprofit organization, demonstrated success in growing donor base, grant writing, excellent verbal and written communication skills, organizational skills with attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to meet deadlines and objectives. You must be able to collaborate and work as a member of a team, as well as independently. Proficiency in Raiser’s Edge or similar database programs, MS Office Suite, Google Docs or similar programs also required.
  • Experience: Managerial experience in a development role preferred. Must be flexible to work evenings or weekends, as needed.

Salary

Salary is equivalent to a full time annual salary of $60K. How that breaks down is negotiable depending upon hours worked.

Benefits

Benefits are triggered at 20 hours per week, at which time medical, dental, life insurance and pension (upon vesting) are offered. Partial remote work may be allowed.
