    Description

DOROT seeks an engaging and dynamic Jewish Educator to facilitate our intergenerational B’nai Mitzvah program offering. This program brings together youth and older adults to explore Jewish Peoplehood, identity, and ideas through texts, interactive activities, and community service. The thematic approach encompasses the application of Jewish lenses (Havruta, Hiddur P’nei Zaken, Arievut) to intergenerational learning, discussions, and creating an intergenerational cohort. Programmatic components also include intergenerational storytelling, games, a field trip, and a hands-on volunteer event to provide basic tech coaching to older adults.

The Educator receives DOROT’s Facilitator Tool Kit, training and weekly coaching to create a welcoming, collaborative environment that fosters meaningful relationships across generations. This opportunity is ideal for someone looking for part-time work with a structured timeline and occasional in-person commitments.

This contract role (approx. 50–60 hours; 2-3 hours a week) from January and concluding on May 18, 2025. The role includes both planning and facilitation phases as outlined as follows:

    • Training and planning occurs in January and–February.
    • Six in-person program sessions will take place on Sundays 3:30-5:30pm beginning in March and concluding in May.

    Responsibilities:

Facilitate in-person Sunday sessions for a cohort of ~12 youth (ages 10–12) and ~8 older adults.

Collaborate with DOROT staff to develop lesson plans and curriculum.

Share written session highlights with parents.

Potential for program continuation in Fall 2025.

            Qualifications:

Strong group facilitation and organizational skills.

                  Excellent verbal and written communication.

Ability to engage youth, parents, and older adults effectively.

                      Proficiency in MS Word.
