Behavior Specialist (Chelsea)

SKIP of New York is a not-for-profit agency. Launched 30 years ago, it is based on the belief that every child deserves a shot at the best childhood they can get, especially children who are medically fragile and/or developmentally disabled. Through service coordination, advocacy and hands-on problem solving, more than 150 SKIP case managers make sure the 3,000+ children they work with each year get that chance.

Title: Assistant Behavior Intervention Specialist

Required qualifications:

1) a Master’s degree in a clinical or treatment field of psychology, social work, school psychology, applied psychology as it

relates to human development and clinical intervention, or a related human services field

and

2) experience working with developmentally disabled children and/or adults in counseling and/or using applied behavior analysis

and

3) is willing to receive training in applied behavior analysis

Job duties:

*Assist in completion of comprehensive functional analyses of behavior in children primarily

*Assist in writing of behavior support plans in appropriate applied behavior analytic format

*Assist with data analysis and entry

*Ongoing monitoring of progress in ADL development and remediation of challenging behavior

*Assist with training new hires and existing instructors to carry out behavior interventions and ADL training goals

*Site visits

*Report writing

*Extensive interfacing with families

  • Must have a driver’s license and be willing to travel
