Job Summary

The Program Manager will support the Executive Director to reach Upward Scholars’ goals and accomplish our mission.

Whether it’s immigration status, lack of a college degree, or being stuck working multiple low-wage jobs just to make ends meet, Upward Scholars students face insurmountable obstacles to making a livable wage. The number one goal of the Program Manager is to develop and support vocational programs that capitalize on the skills students have gained in college so they can work in jobs that provide the opportunity to move up the economic ladder.

This is a business development position. The ideal candidate will have an entrepreneurial spirit with the drive, expertise, and creativity to assess students’ skills and the skills that our community seeks; then develop and deliver programs that marry the two.

Specifically, the Move Up Program Manager will be responsible for assessing students’ skills; administering and promoting existing Upward Scholars programs under the MoveUp initiative, including ¡Habla Más!, a program that trains Upward Scholars students as Spanish coaches, NannyUp, a program that provides students who are nannies with professional development skills, and several college scholarship programs; and creating new programs, primarily by partnering with outside organizations.
