Green Beetz is seeking a part-time classroom educator to lead in-person lessons one day/week beginning in September. We are looking for a self-starter who will bring passion and enthusiasm to the position. The candidate will ideally have experience teaching elementary school students and be passionate about environmental issues, cooking and nutrition. Green Beetz is piloting a new after school program for Kindergarten through 3rd graders and we hope to make the lessons highly engaging and interactive for the students.
The educator will be available Tuesday afternoons from 2-5 pm to teach two lessons, back-to-back, in Manhattan. The curriculum will be taught to Kindergartners and 1st-3rd Graders. Each lesson will be 75-90 minutes.

Green Beetz is a non-profit with the mission to empower students to navigate the food system, and to make healthy and sustainable food choices. Green Beetz’ innovative, holistic STEM curriculum incorporates media and inquiry-based activities, inviting students to consider how food impacts the environment, their bodies and the world around them. This is a comprehensive, STEM-based curriculum that includes videos, interactive activities, and take-home projects. The curriculum covers the following topics: Food and the Environment, Food and the Body, The Big Business of Food, and Cooking and Culture of Food. In the 2019 school year, the program was delivered to 31 Public Schools and over 100 classrooms across NYC, reaching a total of almost 3,000 kids.
This new After School Curriculum will be project-based and modified for younger students.
Green Beetz is looking for an independent, self-motivated, and high energy candidate, preferably with teaching experience and familiarity with healthy eating and the environment. The ideal candidate will be a strong communicator who is outgoing and enjoys working with kids. The educator will work closely with the Green Beetz team to teach and refine the curriculum through the semester.
Well-qualified candidates will ideally possess:

● Team-player, someone who enjoys working with others in a highly collaborative environment.
This is a part-time position and will be paid an hourly rate of $25/hr for up to 6 hours per week (3 hours of instruction plus preparation).
