Seasonal Community Outreach Coordinator - Boston, MA
The Opportunity:
The Boston Waterfront Initiative seeks additional help with community outreach for our exciting project to build a new, accessible, resilient, and welcoming public park at Piers Park III in East Boston. The Community Liaison will assist with an ongoing effort to engage a large cross-section of residents from East Boston and beyond in the Piers Park III design process. This a monthly contract position through at least October 2021, consisting of approximately 15 hours of work per week. Responsibilities will include making direct contact with residents, raising awareness of the project and upcoming meetings and events, soliciting feedback from residents, and serving as a point of contact for the community to The Trustees Boston Waterfront Initiative team. The ideal candidate will have familiarity with the East Boston neighborhood, connections to local organizations in East Boston, and fluency in Spanish. Creative implementation of outreach strategies virtual and otherwise will be key to success.
In This Role You Will:
- Represent the Trustees at neighborhood meetings and events to promote the Piers Park III design process
- Present One Waterfront vision and Piers Park 3 process in Spanish at Trustees-hosted events
- Plan and execute strategies to attract relevant audiences from diverse groups (non-English speakers, neighbors, etc.) to community information sessions, events, and programs for both BWI overall and Piers Park III in East Boston
- Working with the Manager of Communications, devise and implement social media campaigns to raise awareness of BWI and specifically target East Boston residents for Piers Park III
- Working with the Manager of Communications, create online content that can be targeted and shared such as graphics and blog posts
- Lead and implement strategic canvassing campaigns of promotional materials/informational packets/brochures
- Communicate regularly with local leaders and partners to ensure feedback is integrated into the ongoing outreach and design processes
- Other duties as assigned

- Willingness and ability to make direct contact with neighbors
- College degree not required
- Prior demonstrated success in outreach and/or organizing work desired
