The Los Angeles World Affairs Council & Town Hall is a non-partisan, non-profit organization dedicated to advancing global and civic engagement. As the largest speakers’ forum in Southern California, we deliver a robust slate of programming on local, national, and global affairs in order to promote an enriching dialogue for our members and the public to understand the connection between Los Angeles and the world.

Recent speakers have included Microsoft founder Bill Gates, 2020 presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg, former governor of California Jerry Brown, U.S. Senator Tim Scott, and former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, Samantha Power.

Job Type: Full-Time Position (on-site in Culver City office, proof of vaccination required)

Note: Final interviews for the position will take place in-person in our Culver City Office. Following state and county protocols, the selected candidate will complete onboarding in-person and will be required to work in the office for the first 90 days of the role. After this period, employees are allowed a flexible, hybrid work model.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree Required

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

• Understanding of relational databases

• Experience working with Salesforce highly preferred

• Experience with planning, preparing and managing webinars, highly preferred

• Fundraising and development experience highly preferred

• Customer service experience preferred

• Interest in domestic and/or international policy and affairs highly preferred

Duties and Responsibilities:

Member Customer Service and Administration

  • Serves as the primary point of contact for all members, including managing all phone inquiries and email correspondence, registering members for events, and answering questions about the benefits of LAWACTH membership.
  • Manages all membership payments, as well as donation, grant, and sponsorship payments.

Programs (When In-Person Events Can Safely Resume)

  • Manage check-in desk at all large events.
  • Assists Vice Presidents of Events on programming operations as needed, including morning and/or evening in-person and livestream programs.

Membership Development, Marketing and Programming

  • Identifies member prospects and conducts outreach to secure new members.
  • Develops and implements new member programming and benefits.
  • Collaborates with Communications Manager to develop membership solicitations, membership collateral, and other membership marketing needs.
  • Assists the Communications Manager and Vice President of Events with community engagement efforts and the facilitation of community and organizational partnerships.
  • Works with the Vice President of Development to identify donors and membership upgrades, particularly to the highest levels.
  • Works with the Vice President of Events to maintain the organization’s relationship with the Los Angeles Consular Corp by tracking frequent arrival and departure of diplomats, and managing outreach to Consuls General.

High School Program

  • Manages all aspects of the high school program, including maintaining relationships with partner schools and engaging in outreach to promote the growth of the High School Program.
  • Works closely with the Vice President of Events and the Executive Vice President to develop high school programming, locate grants opportunities, and manage program expenses.

Board of Directors

  • Assists the President & CEO in managing all relations with the Los Angeles World Affairs Council & Town Hall Board of Directors, with processing all annual Board dues and contributions, and with managing the Board of Directors directory.
  • Assists President & CEO and Vice President of Development with locating BOD prospects.
