Not a remote position.  COVID-19 Vaccination Required. Masks are worn at the direction of the Camp Director per City/County guidelines.

AN OPPORTUNITY

Optimize the life-changing power of camp! Our Community Engagement Associate is part of a team that welcomes low-income families into our community by recruiting and then stewarding them through the application process, assisting with presentations/orientations, monitoring form submission, and managing a variety of office functions.  All team members of Camp Bob Waldorf and Jewish Big Brothers Big Sisters work together to deliver the highest quality youth programs through the best practices of the industry, in order to provide children the opportunity to achieve their full potential.

Camp Bob Waldorf and Jewish Big Brothers Big Sisters of Los Angeles (JBBBSLA) enrich the lives of youth throughout Greater Los Angeles with the tools and support system they need to thrive from elementary school to college and beyond, driven by the values of community, inclusion, identity and respect. Our residential Jewish and non-sectarian camp programs, weekend retreats, outdoor backpacking trips, college scholarship programs and mentoring activities provide over 1,200 underserved children each year with a safe, nurturing environment where they learn to be creative, responsible, and thoughtful individuals.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Work with the camp team to develop and implement a camper recruitment plan.  Specifically:
  2. Visit and communicate with partner agencies and their staff year-round.
  3. Contact returning campers and provide information on upcoming programs.
  4. Communicate with families in Spanish and English regarding recruitment, registration and other issues that may arise.
  5. Create and maintain CBW Social Media calendar and posts.
  6. Work with the Community Engagement Manager, Associate Director and Camp Director:
  7. Assist with recruiting and enrolling campers in camp programs and following up with families regarding any necessary forms.
  8. Process fees for families after campers are enrolled.
  9. Assist the Associate Director with cabin assignments partner referrals and parent concerns year-round and cabin assignments and logistics throughout the busy retreat and summer sessions.
  10. Manage a system of reports on camper enrollment data for camp team and other divisions of the JBBBSLA agency.
  11. Work closely with other divisions of JBBBSLA (Mentoring, College Scholarships) to facilitate recruitment, enrollment, special events and to monitor status of campers related to other Depts during camp
  12. Facilitate and assist with registration flow on opening and closing days of camp retreats and summer programs
  13. Plan and assist with implementation of annual Gear Up for Camp Day.
  14. Assist with various meeting agendas, minutes and reports.  
  15. Serve as the primary coordinator for Summer Food Service Program (SFSP)
  16. Manage collection of all forms.
  17. Develop and manage a system for tracking camper meals.
  18. Submit claims for reimbursement.
  19. Manage routine office functions
  20. Procure office supplies and maintain inventory.
  21. Implement system of mail distribution for campers/families during the summer season.
  22. Manage general phone line and voicemail box.
  23. Assist with mailings and promotional materials to camper families and community partners.

ON A TEAM

The Community Engagement Associate will work closely with all members of the camp department and will be supervised by the Camp Director. The position will also interact with other members of JBBBSLA including staff members of the Development, Finance, College Guidance/Scholarships and Mentoring Programs.  

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish required
  • 1-2 years administrative or enrollment-based experience
  • Strong, bilingual oral and written communication skills
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills, positive energy, sense of self, open mind, and empathy.
  • Strong initiative and a willingness to go the extra mile for those that we serve

USD 41,494 - USD 49,398
