Episcopal Community Services of San Francisco (ECS) has worked at the forefront of homelessness – and innovative strategies to alleviate it – since 1983. We are an independent non-profit, committed to housing as the solution to homelessness and operate across the full continuum of care:
12 permanent supportive housing sites with on-site wellness services for single adults, families, and veterans;
2 Navigation Centers for people exiting encampment living and connecting with rapid rehousing services;
2 24/7 emergency shelters, plus staffing and day-to-day management of the city’s Interfaith Winter Shelter and Emergency Pop-up Shelters;
staffing and managing the City’s Coordinated Entry to Housing system for single adults;
SF START: a roving team of in-shelter behavioral health specialists that offers mental health assessment, supports, and referrals for guests of all of San Francisco’s shelters.
ECS also runs a senior day-center, an adult education center, a culinary training program for homeless and recently homeless students, and the CHEFS Kitchens social enterprise.
ECS serves approximately 7,000 individuals annually with an operational budget of $33 million, assets of $5 million, nearly 300 employees, and thousands of devoted volunteers.
Additionally, ECS provides partnership management and asset management services to three housing affiliates, with additional annual operations of $6 million and assets of $42 million. Competitive salary and generous benefits offered.
SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting directly to the CHEFS (Conquering Homelessness through Employment in Food Services) Program Manager, the Outreach Specialist will be responsible for external outreach for all of the programs within the department including; CHEFS Training program, hospitality training programs, adult education programs, and CHEFS Kitchens. The Outreach Specialist will develop a network of community and business partners in the Bay Area to drive participation and connection to employment through ECS programs.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop and maintain a network of qualified partners throughout the Bay Area that can refer potential clients and customers to ECS workforce and social enterprise programs and business
Develop and maintain a network of business partners throughout the Bay Area that can host internship candidates completing training or provide potential permanent job placements
Conduct presentations for partners, businesses and their clients to develop and maintain a steady flow of referrals and opportunities
Deliver weekly orientations to new referrals to onboard successfully to services
Attend and table at relevant community events, job fairs, industry associations, etc
Develop and maintain accurate outreach recordkeeping, contacts, analysis and reporting to improve efficiency of outreach activities
Provide guidance and development and/or assistance on marketing materials to support outreach efforts
Other duties as assigned
Outgoing personality; genuine love of people and engaging with them
Passion for ECS mission; comfort with diversity; culturally sensitive
GED/HSD required; College degree preferred
Strong presentation skills; able to speak 1:1 or to large groups
Strong computer skills including all Microsoft Office applications
Schedule Flexibility as role may occasionally require some presentations and meetings to be done outside normal business hours to accommodate partner and business schedules
Willingness to travel to partner and business locations
Able to work independently
Must secure finger image screening and annual TB screening. Must be able to meet physical requirements of the position which may include long periods at a desk and/or computer workstation, daily travel to various sites, and lifting of up to 25 lbs.
