The Alliance, founded by the American Heart Association and Clinton Foundation, operates as an independent 501c3 non-profit organization guided by its own Board of Directors. JOB SUMMARY

The Associate Director of Cross-Sector Collaboration is responsible for the day-to-day direction of Healthier Generation’s collaborative and coordinated NGO approach to business engagement at the national level, including a key role in partnership development and stewardship, oversight of grant management and reporting, and communications and thought-leadership strategy.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Direct strategy and implementation of collaborative and coordinated NGO approach to business engagement
  • Develop and/or steward formal and informal partnerships and collaborations with key stakeholders/organizations
  • Negotiate, direct, and/or manage partnership agreements/commitments/MOUs as appropriate
  • Develop and/or contribute to funder stewardship strategies, reporting, and deliverables
  • Liaise with Development team; lead or contribute to the development of fundraising concepts and grant proposals to further cross-sector collaboration/business sector strategies mission
  • Liaise with Marketing and Communications team; serve as business sector strategies team’s programmatic lead in the development and execution of the communications strategy, development of key communications assets, and development of compelling external messaging for key stakeholder groups
  • Identify emerging/guide existing opportunities to communicate impact and progress of Healthier Generation’s cross-sector collaboration/business sector strategies; guide and advise team in articulating Healthier Generation’s role in driving results
  • Lead the development and management of Healthier Generation’s business sector thought-leadership strategy and calendar; provide guidance and support to team around messaging and preparation
  • Represent Healthier Generation at meetings and conferences, and on subcommittees and workgroups, nationwide
  • Responsible for reporting regular status updates to leadership and key project stakeholders
  • Supervise, coach, and guide the work of assigned staff
  • Other duties as assigned


REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Familiarity with food and beverage system, and current food and beverage-related policy landscape, academic research, and corporate practices impacting children and families
  • Experience developing and executing effective communications strategy, and developing messaging for diverse stakeholder groups
  • Experience leading or contributing to fundraising proposals and funder reporting
  • Ability to digest technical information and translate research into practical steps for implementation
  • Experience in building multi-stakeholder initiatives, relationships or collaborations
  • Ability to interact comfortably and effectively with business, non-profit, government, and academic stakeholders at all levels
  • Enjoys working collaboratively and has personal style to work collegially with all types of individuals
  • Demonstrates a high degree of professionalism, diplomacy, integrity and interpersonal skills
  • Highly organized, detail orientated, and able to manage several projects simultaneously
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills
  • Self-motivated, entrepreneurial and flexible, willing to roll-up his/her sleeves to do whatever is necessary to get the job done
  • Ability to work independently and within a virtual team environment
  • Ability to fluently adopt and utilize robust collaboration and reporting technologies


OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to travel by car or plane up to 30% of the time 


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree within a relevant course of study – business, nutrition, public health, or communications; advanced degree preferred
  • 7 years minimum related work experience with public health organizations, non-profit organizations, and/or private business-sector companies
  • At least 5 years of demonstrated project management/leadership experience
  • 3+ years working in communications, marketing, and/or public relations strongly preferred
  • Experience supervising staff preferred
  • Experience in developing and managing cross-sector relationships, particularly food and beverage focused, strongly preferred
