The Educational Video Center (www.evc.org) is seeking an exceptional full time mission-driven Archive Video Editor. EVC is a nonprofit youth media arts organization dedicated to teaching documentary video as a means to develop the artistic, critical literacy, and career skills of young people, while nurturing their idealism and commitment to social change.
For over three decades, EVC youth producers have produced award-winning short documentary films on social justice issues impacting them and their communities. Our archive of over 200 artful youth-produced films explore topics such as police brutality, healthcare inequity, environmental racism, unequal education, gentrification, mental health struggles, LGBTQ+ discrimination and more. This position reports to EVC’s Archive Distribution Manager and will be guided by EVC alumni advisory.
Responsibilities:
- Inventorying and cataloguing EVC video archive with metadata standards for multiple audiences, including internal and external stakeholders.
- Make creative decisions to edit short youth-produced documentary films (approximately 20 minutes long) to produce multiple short stand-alone video clips (1 - 3 minutes long) for editorial licensing purposes. Understand the context in which finished work will be used to create more effective final products.
- Perform editorial functions including media reformatting, assemblies, motion graphic design, audio sweetening, color correction, titles/credits, subtitles, and ensuring quality control.
- Editing and creating trailers, sizzle reels, promotional bumpers, and social media videos as needed.
- Media management of large amounts of digital content of various sizes to archive in EVC platform(s).
- Optimize all video assets for web, mobile, and larger screens.
- Coordinate and attend key creative approval sessions such as final edit playbacks, color/sound correction reviews and legal clearance reviews.
- Abides by EVC archive code of ethics.
- Other responsibilities as assigned and required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field required.
- Must be experienced with Adobe Creative Cloud, particularly Premiere Pro and After Effects, as well as Final Cut Pro.
- Working knowledge of video content needs and technical requirements of both current and emerging digital platforms.
- Shows close attention to detail, able to multitask and handle numerous changes under tight deadlines with excellent time management skills.
- Strong editorial judgement, intellectually curious, well-read, and abreast of current events, politics, and popular culture.
- Must believe in the power of stories to create social change; creates and sustains a race equity culture towards a more just and equitable world.
This position is presently remote and could be in-office when it is safe to do so.

Benefits
This is a one year full time position, with the possibility of part time work thereafter. The position will be compensated at a full time rate with benefits in the range of $40,000 - $50,000 commensurate with experience, and will be supervised by EVC’s Archive Distribution Manager. This position is eligible for vacation, sick days, and organizational holidays with health and dental insurance, commuter benefits, and more.
