POSITION OVERVIEW

Generation USA is seeking Regional Development Officers who will serve as front line fundraising staffers for sustaining existing funding partnerships and mining new revenue opportunities primarily from institutional funders (private and public) for their assigned regions. They will be responsible for the entire life cycle of the grant seeking process from identification to prospect research to grant writing and grant management in their portfolio. They will be a part of a dynamic and entrepreneurial development team working towards a collective $12MM goal for philanthropic and public revenue in 2020.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Portfolio Management and Planning

  • Develop and maintain their portfolio of revenue opportunities in their assigned region; est. $1.5MM per fundraiser
  • Work hand-in-hand with the development team to ensure Generation maximizes opportunities, meet its revenue goals while building an opportunity pipeline to ensure continued support for their assigned regions, and for long term program sustainability
  • Identify and qualify new prospects to add to their portfolio
  •  Build, track and execute a pipeline and portfolio that will ensure we collectively reach the $12MM revenue goal for FY20
  • Standardize and streamline the process for portfolio management and planning. Build a system, with an eye towards the entire fiscal year to meet deadlines and increase effectiveness in securing funding year round.
  • Cultivation and Stewardship
  • Ensure strong relationships and regular communication with all funders in their portfolio while adding new potential funders through outreach and cultivation activities
  • Manage all communication with funders ranging from regularly scheduled check-ins to hosting site visits, the Regional Development Officer is the primary point person to the philanthropic and public partnerships in their assigned regions
  • Ensure grant compliance and 100% on-time grant report submissions
  • Regularly clean-up data to ensure CRM data integrity, be vigilant about record keeping, and standardize the type of information that is being put in Salesforce. For example: For all prospects research, accounts are created with key staff information so that we can create relationship maps among people within an organization and to also capture our outreach and cultivation plans to set up automatic reminders to take action.
  • Prospect Research & Analysis
  • Conduct in-depth analysis of existing, lapsed and new funders to pursue and to add to their portfolio
  • Build potential prospect list within each target markets using prospect research resources; managing the process from identification to research to qualified
  • Conduct in-depth research on prospects, including information on institutional characteristics, giving capacities, key staff and our connections to them (e.g. relationship mapping), and recent news
  • Analyze research findings to assess business and revenue potential: Identify & assess big opportunities and determine strategies for developing relationships; Determine level of priority and timeline for building relationship
  • Research and analyze the philanthropic and public funding landscape in assigned regions we are currently serving in, and work closely with the Partnership Engagement Manager to mobilize on-the-ground staffers to a part of this process
  • Pursue knowledge of trends in local philanthropy

Specific requirements include, but are not limited to:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience required; preferably in liberal arts, business, or sales
  • 5+ years of professional experience
  • 3+ years of development/fundraising or relevant experience (i.e. Sales)
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite and CRM database (Salesforce preferred)
  • Demonstrated analytical skills to initiate and perform complex analyses and organize information to identify revenue partners, tendencies, and relationships
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including an ability to find, analyze and synthesize complex information to produce clear and effective written documents
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, problem solve and manage time and stress well
  • Integrity, positive attitude, mission-driven, and self-directed with demonstrated passion for Generation's mission and commitment to working collaboratively
  • A growth mindset; self-reflective and open to frequent feedback from multiple stakeholders
