The PCLB Foundation – a private family foundation based in New York City – is committed to “giving motivated people the tools they need to help themselves.” Over time, the best tool the Foundation has found is access to a high-quality education. Education is, therefore, PCLB’s largest grant portfolio with a goal to give all children the opportunities afforded by a high-quality, K-12 public education – one that prepares them to succeed in college and in life.

 The Program Assistant will support PCLB’s program team with the Foundation’s grant-making work across portfolios. More specifically, the Program Assistant will be responsible for the following:

·       Support senior staff in managing Discretionary and Selected Projects grantees. This involves assisting with review of proposals/reports, conducting site visits, maintaining working relationships with grantees, and preparing materials in two annual grant cycles.

·       Support Program staff in grant-making broadly, especially through research projects related to grant strategy development and execution, through data projects, through support with grant-making processes, and potentially through internal and external communications work. 

·       Perform other administrative responsibilities (such as grants tracking, financial reports, surveys, presentations, preparation of Special Projects meeting materials, etc.) related to PCLB’s grant-making. 

·       Assist with preparation and execution of two annual Board meetings.

·       Provide back-up around various daily administrative and office routines.

 Qualifications:

·       Bachelor’s degree required.

·       Knowledge of foreign language – Spanish or Portuguese – preferred.

·       Demonstrated computer skills (especially Microsoft Office).   

·       Some exposure to or has a strong interest in learning more about philanthropy.

·       Commitment to high quality work.

·       Commitment to areas in which PCLB funds.

·       Detail-oriented and efficient problem solver.

·       Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

·       Ability to work independently. Must have the ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.
