The Development Officer will be an individual who is passionate about the work of Historica Canada, has had experience working with a team to achieve deliverables in a timely fashion and is enthusiastic about celebrating and promoting the stories of Canada’s cultural and linguistic diversity. Please mention ice cream in your cover letter. The successful candidate is organized, detail-oriented, flexible and a strong communicator.


The responsibilities of the Development Officer, include:


·      Ensure daily responsibility for the routine administration of individual donations

·      Lead responsibility for updating and maintaining the donors’ database

·      Use Quickbase to manage donor information, and to track donor activity on a weekly/monthly and annual basis.

·      Be first point of contact for donor communication by phone and email

·      Coordinate organization’s annual “thank you” campaign

·      Work with Development Coordinator to research and identify individual, corporate and foundation donors to develop prospect lists based on fundraising priorities

·      Track in-kind donations for the organization and individual programs

·      Research and identify opportunities for strategic partnerships and in-kind donations;

  • Use database tools including iWave, GrantConnect and Quickbase to research, compile and analyse prospect and donor data;

·      Support in the organizing and running of donor and fundraising events

·      Complete other duties, as assigned by the senior management team



Qualifications:

·      University undergraduate degree required

·      Minimum 1-2 years professional working experience required, experience working in the non-profit an asset

·      Knowledge of fundraising

·      Excellent customer service skills required

·      Interest in Canadian history and culture

·      Bilingual (English and French) an asset

·      Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic, changing environment

·      Advanced level of MS Office

·      Knowledge of a CRM software, Quick Base knowledge an asset

 

All candidates who indicate fluency in French will undertake a French language assessment (written and verbal) as part of the selection process.

 

This is a contract position starting immediately and ends on March 31, 2023, with possibility of renewal. The salary will be $44,000 annually, less applicable statutory deductions, which will be paid to the successful candidate twice a month.

This position is based at Historica Canada’s Head Office in Toronto. However, qualified distance candidates will be considered. Please note: all of Historica Canada’s team is currently working remotely. Once it is deemed safe and advisable to do so by the City’s public health authorities, and in accordance with Historica Canada’s Remote Work Policy, staff may choose to work from the office, or continue to work remotely.

 

When Covid-19 public health guidelines allow for it, this position may require travel (air and ground) within Canada and subject to government safety protocols.
