Job description

The Youth Transition Skills Trainer provides coaching and support services to transition-aged youth living with a disability(s). This position allows up to 20 hours a week. Work hours will be scheduled to meet the needs of students enrolled in the program(s) and may include daytime, evenings and weekends. Must be a resident of Monmouth or Ocean County.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Devise, plan and implement coaching strategies.
  • Assist, encourage, and support youth in appropriate work behaviors
  • Model appropriate skills, productive behaviors and effective communication.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with students and program staff.
  • Prompt individuals to practice effective soft skills
  • Present ethical, appropriate and competent relationships and delivery of services
  • Maintain data and submit required reporting

REQUIRED WORK EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, AND EDUCATION:

  • Associates Degree or higher preferred
  • 2 years of related experience in youth disability-related services, a youth program or educational program post-high school is also preferred
  • Ability to initiate projects and work independently
  • Must have reliable technology and internet access to work remotely with students
  • Ability to work with staff and consumers on a cross-disability basis
  • Intermediate computer skills typing, Google suite knowledge a must
  • Excellent verbal, written, and organizational skills
  • Must pass a background check to work within public high schools
