Someone who doesn’t just believe in justice but is ready to build it, block by block, ward by ward. If you are an experienced organizer, with affordable housing, equitable development and movement building experience, who knows how to engage with grassroots working people of color, this is your moment.

This isn’t your average job. This is frontline, relational, justice-centered organizing that holds space for both fierce resistance and radical love. As a Homes for All (HFA) DC Organizer, you will work with a dynamic team connected to a national movement, organizing, developing and working with tenant organizations and tenants in Washington DC. You will help ONE DC to establish language justice in our housing campaigns and make sure that we communicate well with Spanish speaking tenants, and tenants’ rights and affordable housing advocates. You’ll join other ONE DC organizers with base-building campaigns, political education programs, and collective leadership development toward economic transformation, especially in fair and affordable housing.

    What You’ll Do

    Organizing & Member Power

    • Work with a team of HFA DC organizers, tenant association members, tenants and ONE DC members to organize around the right to affordable housing, tenants’ rights, and equitable development
    • Engage in outreach, canvassing, and phone banking with tenants and with tenant associations in HFA DC, to build relationships, engage tenants and build more and stronger tenant associations in DC

    • Attend HFA DC and ONE DC staff meetings as needed
    • Provide Spanish language interpretation and translation for the HFA DC initiative, ONE DC staff, and at tenant meetings
    • Engage in grassroots campaigns rooted in community self-determination, engage in outreach and base-building for ONE DC; build strong, strategic relationships with local and national allies

    What You Bring

As a ONE DC homes organizer, you’ll be organizing people around the right to housing: collaborating with resident leaders, staff and ONE DC members to develop strong tenant associations in DC; developing language justice, popular education and organizing strategies to achieve community-controlled development and affordable and just housing policy. Here's how you'll help us build power:

    • Good written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills; and strong computer, internet, and social media skills
    • Self-motivated with the ability to work as part of a shared leadership team; Emotionally intelligent, politically grounded, and accountable
    • Flexible schedule—including evenings and weekends

    Preferred:
