Position: Project Coordinator 

Department: Business Development Center

Reports to: Senior Director/Senior Project Manager

Salary: $50,000.00

Hours: Full Time (35 hours weekly)

FLSA: Non-exempt

Position Summary:

Union Settlement’s Business Development Center is seeking a hard-working, energetic and committed individual, with a capacity to work both independently and in a team environment. This individual will work with Union Settlement’s EHWT program to complete project-specific deliverables under the categories of Merchant Organizing and Business Support and Retention, in addition to assisting the BDC staff as required, for the purpose of continuing to promote East Harlem and growing the local economy.                        

Responsibilities:

• Assist in working with local merchants to complete the formation of various Associations; e.g. Restaurant Association. 
• Continue securing the participation of local property owners, in order to develop and create a 116th Street Property Owner’s Committee. 
• Update and maintain the Storefront survey and any new surveys, as required. 
• Assist in the production of promotional material created/designed by the Senior Program Manager and/or Program Manager for new or existing projects, as required. 
• Assist in the development and proofreading of reports, documents and written material produced by the BDC, for internal and/or external distribution. 
• Represent the Senior Director and/or Senior Project Manager, as required.
• Maintain the East Harlem Community Alliance files and records.

Qualifications:

• English/Spanish bilingual preferred.
• Minimum BA/BS degree and 2 years’ experience working with businesses preferred.
• Strong oral, written, organizational and problem-solving skills. 
• Ability to conduct personalized outreach to businesses and property owners.
• Familiarity with East Harlem business preferred.
• Familiarity with Mailchimp, Canva, Photoshop.
• Ability to make oral presentations to corporate officials.
• Demonstrated ability to perform multiple tasks.
• Proficient computer skills, including proficiency in Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
• Web development and social media marketing experience.
• Community organizing experience preferred.
• Knowledge of bank lending practices and familiarity with the Community Reinvestment Act would be preferred.
