Details: This position will receive a $1,000 stipend.
North Suburban News is looking for a fundraiser who is passionate about increasing civic engagement, educating the community, and looking to make a lasting difference in the region. This is a contract position and will be paid a $1,000 stipend.
Our mission statement is simple: To educate the communities we serve by providing residents the information they need in order to make informed decisions about their lives, their communities, their schools and their government. To increase civic and community engagement through well-researched, informed and educational news articles.
The site currently covers the communities of Reading, Wakefield, Stoneham, Winchester and Woburn.
Community journalism is where reporters can have the biggest impact as journalists and the news organizations they work for are the eyes and ears of the community. They are the watchdogs that keep the community flourishing, they are the ones that hold elected officials accountable, and they are the ones tasked with reporting the news. Therefore, it is no surprise that the decline in community and civic engagement coincides with the decline of the newspaper industry.
