The Jamaica Plain Neighborhood Development Corporation (JPNDC) is a 41-year-old non-profit organization with the mission of promoting equitable development and equal opportunity in Jamaica Plain and adjacent Boston neighborhoods through affordable housing, community organizing, and economic opportunity initiatives that improve the lives of low- and moderate-income people and create a better community for all.

As its scope of operations and level of financial activity continues to increase, JPNDC is seeking an experienced professional to serve as Accounting Supervisor. The person will work closely with the Director of Finance and Administration to help manage the finances of this dynamic organization.

Key Responsibilities

1.    Maintain systems to track financial progress of real estate development projects and prepare funding requisitions. Maintain regular communications with project staff, lenders and consultants regarding project costs and financing requirements.

2.    Maintain and reconcile accounting functions for our growing child care program.

3.    Supervise accounts receivable, accounts payable and child care functions, which includes two employees.

4.    Reconcile general ledger accounts monthly to maintain accuracy of accounts for JPNDC and real estate projects.

5.    Assist with preparation of financial reports (for internal and external users) including quarterly budget-to-actual reports for Board of Directors.

6.    Assist with monthly cash management including reporting on entity level and individual real estate projects as well as inter-company activity.   

7.    Assist in year-end closing and start-up activities including audit preparation to ensure that annual audits are completed in a timely manner.

8.    Work with Director of Finance to prepare annual operating and capital budgets and other financial analysis.

9.    Work with program and project managers to develop budgets for programs and real estate development projects.

10. Manage audit and compliance requirements for all affiliated real estate organizations, working in coordination with the Director of Asset Management.

11. Assist in setting up new accounting entities as required for new development projects.

12. Provide back-up support for payroll

13. Perform other related duties as required.

General Qualifications:

·      Demonstrated ability in accounting, financial reporting, analysis, budgeting and real estate requisitions. 

·      Ability to plan work and meet deadlines.

·      Excellent written and oral communication skills.

·      Bilingual oral and writing skills (Spanish/English) a plus.

·      ADP experience a plus

Specialized Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, some auditing experience in real estate a plus
  • Five to six years of responsible accounting experience, preparing work papers, financial statements and real estate requisitions.
  • Three years supervisory experience
