Kode With Klossy (KWK) was founded in 2014 to empower girls to learn to code and become leaders in tech. KWK’s programs include its national two-week long summer coding camps for girls aged 13-18. After successfully hosting 14 programs last summer, the team will be hosting 50 camps for 1,000 girls in 25 cities this summer. In addition, as part of its refocused mission to expose as many girls and young women as possible to STEM-education, KWK will be launching year-round programming to its growing community later this year.

Teaching girls to code is just a part of KWK’s grand vision, which is focused on increasing girls’ access to STEM education across the country and fostering their entrepreneurial and creative spirits. The KWK program approach is distinguished by how it engages its community to positively impact the life trajectories of its scholars and ultimately, the role of girls and women in tech. More than just empowering the girls with employable skills, the KWK experience and environment provide a framework for our scholars to succeed in anything they do in the future.


In this role, you will be the lead in-classroom instructor and trainer for all of KWK’s programs and play a critical role in ensuring that the KWK education strategy is appropriately tailored to the KWK environment and its scholars. You will develop the training program and materials for KWK’s programs as well as lead instructor training. During the summer program, you will be responsible for managing KWK’s in-classroom instructors as well as the overall program.

Key Responsibilities include:


  • Lead (and co-teach) in-classroom KWK programs, including KWK summer camps, workshops and other year-round educational opportunities
  • Proactively inspire, encourage and mentor KWK instructors and scholars and foster a dynamic and supportive teaching and learning environment

Teacher Training and Management

  • Develop, run and manage teacher training programs for KWK’s camps and year-round educational opportunities
  • Develop, run and manage teaching assistant programs for KWK camps and year-round educational opportunities
  • Manage and evaluate all KWK instructors and provide in-classroom support and curriculum guidance
  • Facilitate formal review and evaluation process of all KWK instructors, including peer review
  • Develop and implement growth and retention strategy for all KWK instructors
  • Develop and manage process for KWK scholars to become KWK teaching assistants, and ultimately KWK instructors

Program Development - In addition to the above responsibilities, you will be expected to:

  • Collaborate with KWK on the development and implementation of new year-round programs and community building initiatives (for KWK scholars and instructors)
  • Contribute to the ongoing development and maintenance of KWK’s curriculum

Candidate Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM field, preferred
  • Master’s Degree in Education, preferred
  • Note - Candidates with other educational backgrounds with relevant professional experience will be considered
  • Minimum 3 years teaching experience in K-12 classroom setting (5th -12th grades, preferably)
  • Prior experience developing training program and materials (STEM-topics, preferably)
  • Prior experience developing curriculum and/or lesson planning based on open curriculum, a plus
  • Leading teacher training, managing a co-teaching classroom environment and evaluating student and teacher performance
  • Strong passion and interest (including prior experience) in programming and other STEM-topics
  • Prior experience developing curriculum and/or lesson planning based on open curriculum, a plus
  • Expertise in dynamically typed language such as Python, Ruby, or Javascript

This position is full time and considered exempt for federal overtime purposes.
