Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts (LCPA) serves three primary roles: it is the world’s leading presenter of superb artistic programming, is a national leader in arts education and community relations, and manages the Lincoln Center campus, which is home to 11 resident organizations. LCPA presents over 350 performances annually throughout different performance series including American Songbook, Great Performers, Live from Lincoln Center, Mostly Mozart Festival, Midsummer Night Swing, Lincoln Center Out of Doors and White Light Festival.
In addition, LCPA supports an array of programs for Lincoln Center Education including its community and family programming.
Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts and the New York Philharmonic have embarked on a project to renovate and enhance David Geffen Hall. The project will center primarily on improving audience and artist experiences inside the hall, improving acoustics within the performance space, creating dynamic public spaces and phased renovations. LCPA is conducting a significant capital campaign to support the project and make the renovation of the treasured music hall a reality.
Reporting to Lincoln Center’s Controller, the Project Controller will play a key role in maintaining and managing the accounting records for the redevelopment project, including but not limited to preparing monthly financial statements, monitoring compliance, creating cost projections, and assisting with presentations to the Board of Directors, Audit Committee, and other key stakeholders in the redevelopment project.
• Oversee the general ledger account structure and cost reporting system
• Supervise the set up of new vendors in the accounting ledger and ensure compliance with 1099 reporting requirements
• Manage the cash management process, payments to vendors, and funding from constituents
• Oversee the input of contract commitments into the accounting system
• Work in close partnership with the CFO and Controller, redevelopment project managers, and other leadership
• Assist the Construction Managers and LCDP Project Management with the preparation of revised project budgets and cash flow projections
• Generate monthly financial statements
• Coordinate financial data used by LCPA and construction management companies
• Direct the preparation of constituent cost reports
• Prepare account analysis and supporting work papers for annual audit and collaborate with external firms in preparing 990 Tax Returns
• Communicate about the redevelopment project, making updates and recommendations digestible to stakeholders and staff from a variety of different backgrounds
• Monitor compliance with all accounting and internal control policies and procedures and support reporting compliance for city, state, and federal funding sources
• Aid the Chief Financial Officer and Controller with presentations to Board of Directors, including the Audit Committee
• Special projects and other duties as assigned
• 7-10 years of experience in accounting with an emphasis on budgeting required
• Prior experience working in project accounting at a construction company, construction management company, or a similar environment strongly preferred
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Proven ability to balance and manage competing priorities and adapt to changing demands
• Management experience a plus but not required; this role may take on management of a small team over time
• Advanced Excel skills and prior experience with Timberline/Sage 300 accounting software, Prologue (or a similar software) required
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent combination of education and experience
