Job Summary

 

The Resource Development Manager drives the effort to secure mid to major level gifts from individuals, corporations, and grant-makers. The Resource Development Manager, will develop and implement strategies for identifying prospects, cultivating donors, leadership volunteers and grant-makers, maximizing gifts and implementing stewardship activities. This position will be responsible for producing proposals and reports for both established and prospective grant makers. The Resource Development Manager fosters the Resource Development department’s community-centric fundraising culture.

This position supports the Director of Resource Development to cultivate and steward current mid to major donors and to identify prospects for their portfolio. The Resource Development Manager, with the Resource Development team, supports the Director of Resource Development in implementing an annual resource development plan in alignment with United Way of Snohomish County’s goals.

The Resource Development Manager collaborates with the Impact & Investment team and CORE Collaboratives to align grant opportunities with CORE needs. This position assists with annual events, including conception, planning, and implementing strategic donor cultivation within those events and securing event sponsorship dollars. This position works alongside Marketing & Communications team to coordinate the collection of organizational data for inclusion in the annual report and major donor touch point communications. They coordinate grants accounting and financial reporting with the Finance department to ensure compliance with the terms and conditions of grants and major gifts.

Key Responsibilities

 

·         Align major gift seeking with community-centric fundraising principles.

·         Meet annual major donor and grant seeking revenue goals

·         Maintain an annual “Top 15” pool of prospective individual major gift donors who will be solicited in the next 12-18 month period. Conduct personal visits and calls with major donors and prospects, scheduling a minimum of 4-6 contacts per month for the purpose of qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.

·         Prospect, qualify and cultivate relationships with donors in the $1000-$4999 range who can be advanced to major donors above $5000+.

·         Maintain a portfolio of grant-makers to be solicited in the next 12-18 months. Lead and steward grant-maker relationships in coordination with the Resource Development Director, the CEO and the Director of Impact and Investment.

·         Support and advocate for collaborative fundraising activities within the CORE Collaboratives

·         Develop letter of inquiry, proposal, and report packages, including narratives, budgets, collecting and synthesizing grant data and all other required attachments, complying with required guidelines and deadlines for each.

·         Partner with the Director of Resource Development to develop strategies to engage, solicit, and steward their portfolio and prospects.

·         Identify individual, foundation, corporate and government prospects, conduct research to determine interest, giving and volunteer leadership potential, and alignment to United Way of Snohomish County’s strategic goals and outcomes.

·         Develop and maintain Moves Management activities, contact reports, gift acknowledgements and deadlines in ANDAR.

·         Track grant revenue and generate revenue reports for senior leadership.

·         Contribute to the development of and execute a strategic fundraising plan annually

·         Work with the other members of the Resource Development team to identify new giving strategies.

·         Participate in the planning of fundraising forecasts, predictions, and objectives. predictions, and objectives.

 

Attribute of a Successful Candidate

 

·        3-5 years’ experience as a fundraising professional with some grant-writing experience.

·        Excellent verbal communication skills; outstanding writing ability.

·        Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, with a talent for building strong and productive relationships across constituencies.

·        Demonstrated knowledge of cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies and techniques, particularly corporate and foundation relations.

·        Demonstrated knowledge of methods, practices, and procedures for obtaining information about the giving programs of companies and foundations.

·        Demonstrated success in organizing work, meeting strict deadlines, and setting priorities.

·        Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and networking skills with individuals and large groups.

·        Ability to initiate and build relationships with corporate and foundation funders and interact via telephone and in-person.

·        Ability to work with and command the respect of C-suite executives, heads of departments, and other high-level donors and volunteers.

·        Ability to communicate United Way priorities to external audiences.

·        Demonstrated analytical and strategic thinking capabilities

·        Creative, professional, and entrepreneurial spirit.

·        Demonstrated word processing and overall computer expertise including MS Office and Power Point, and an aptitude for learning new software programs.

·        Experience with Salesforce (or equivalent donor database) preferred.

·        Current, valid driver's license; use of a private vehicle; and valid automobile insurance.

·        Travel often to offsite meetings within and outside of Snohomish County.

·        Meet the criminal history check review standards.
