Supervisor: Communications Director

Employment Type: Full-time and exempt, work hours are Monday–Friday from 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. with some flexibility required

Compensation: $70,000-$75,000 (commensurate with experience), full medical benefits including dental and vision, generous paid time off policy, and 401K plan

Job Description

The Andrew Goodman Foundation (AGF), an award-winning 501(c)(3) nonpartisan nonprofit organization with a mission to make young voices and votes a powerful force in democracy, is seeking a Senior Digital Engagement Strategist to join our Communications team. The Senior Digital Engagement Strategist will work closely with the Communications and Programs teams to create and lead digital campaigns and engagement strategies that increase brand visibility, engage more young people in our work, and advocate for youth voting rights on a local, state, and federal level.

The Senior Digital Engagement Strategist will also be responsible for providing support to a growing network of Andrew Goodman Campus Teams located in 26 states and Washington, D.C. She/He/They will work with our program participants to develop digital organizing skills, advise them on how to integrate digital strategies into campaign planning, and leverage AGF’s digital resources to reach more students and help them build political power through voting and other forms of political engagement.

The ideal candidate is a campaigner, organizer, and strategist who can develop digital strategies that integrate with our on-the-ground engagement and mobilizes young people to act. She/He/They are proficient in online advocacy tools, text flows, social media channels, and analytics.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Create and execute digital strategies that support AGF’s strategic goals
  • Work with Program staff to advise and support Andrew Goodman Campus Teams on how to integrate digital engagement strategies, campaigns, and AGF’s digital resources into their campus action plans to drive programmatic outcomes
  • Work with the Senior Communications Manager to develop communications materials for relevant national, state, and local campaigns to increase Andrew Goodman Campus Network engagement
  • Brainstorm ways to increase adaptation and usage of AGF’s digital resources, my.VoteEverywhere student portal and on-campus texting program
  • Identify, evaluate, and pilot emerging digital organizing strategies and tactics
  • Track performance of all digital campaigns and strategies on a monthly basis and make informed decisions to maximize results
  • Oversee data acquisitions and list maintenance
  • Utilize digital technologies such as email marketing, social media, text flows, petitions, direct contact, and others to move people down the ladder of engagement
  • Supervise the work of the Digital Marketing Manager
  • Attend campaign meetings with the core team to strategize, as needed
  • Lead virtual digital organizing and campaign training sessions, demos, and one-on-one coaching for our staff and program participants, as needed
  • Coordinate and lead stakeholders in virtual phone-banks, text-banks, twitter-storms, petition outreach, and other online coordinated actions


Preferred Qualifications

  • At least five years of experience in digital organizing, digital strategy, political/issue campaign management, and/or digital engagement
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written
  • Experience coordinating teams of volunteers from all over the country
  • Commitment to inspire and motivate students to become digital activists and organizers
  • Experience with WordPress, Salesforce, MassMailer, Form Assembly, SimpleTexting, Salsa Engage a plus
  • Proficiency in peer to peer and broadcast texting platforms, broadcast and direct engagement social media via Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, and WhatsApp, in addition to development and maintenance of online community groups
  • Ability to analyze audience metrics and formulate engagement strategies to maximize prospective member engagement including tracking, list segmentation, A/B testing, advocacy, and drip email campaigns
  • Experience with digital strategies designed to reach younger audiences, especially Gen Zers, a plus
  • Ability to identify potential digital campaigns from trending news, social media, and other digital communications
  • Excellent time management skills, including ability to meet deadlines, work successfully in a team, handle supervision, and attention to detail
  • Ability to relate to and work with diverse groups of people, as well as understanding multiple perspectives and regional/local differences 
  • Demonstrated commitment to racial, social, and economic justice and a willingness to work collaboratively with persons of diverse racial and ethnic backgrounds, socioeconomic status, ages, and sexual orientations
  • Access to a phone and reliable internet
  • Pass a criminal background check
