Job Overview:

The Senior Direct Services Manager is a new senior-level position responsible for the strategy, oversight, and supervision of Sacramento’s Reception and Placement and Economic Empowerment Programming and Departments. The Senior Manager will serve as part of the IRC Sacramento’s Senior Leadership Team, overseeing 4-5 Program Managers. Key responsibilities include grants oversight, business development, partnership development, compliance and reporting, and ensuring quality client services. Additional responsibilities include maintaining and growing program funding and ensuring programs are in alignment with strategic goals and diversity and inclusion (DEI) initiatives. This position would be responsible for supporting with overall office leadership and ensuring strong client programming and staff training in the Sacramento IRC office. This position reports to the Sacramento Site Director.

Major Responsibilities (including but not limited to):


·       Serve as a key member of Sacramento’s leadership team, participating in strategic and office-wide initiatives;

·       Work collaboratively with the director to foster a culture of inclusion and belonging;

·       Assist with the coordination of office wide events, staff training, and initiatives;

·       Support with the development of systems, processes, and standard operating procedures;

·       Other related duties as assigned.

Staff Management & Development

·       Directly supervise a team of program managers, exemplifying IRC’s leadership standards, including managing performance, creating staff development plans, sharing time and credit, creating a collaborative environment, impacting critical decisions, and promoting accountability;

·       Provide regular individual supervision, coaching/mentoring, and performance feedback;

·       Support effective new staff onboarding; help to ensure strong, standardized onboarding systems and training;

·       Demonstrate, through words and actions, a commitment to diversity and inclusion, and assist with developing and implementing the DEI initiatives and activities of the Sacramento office.

Program Management:

·       Serve as the point person for program-related oversight; In collaboration with program managers, oversee business development, grants, reporting, budgets, and overall grant compliance;

·       Ensure successful resettlement of refugees, SIV’s, and asylees through departmental oversight of the Reception and Placement, Early Employment, and Career Pathways programs.

·       Facilitate communication and programmatic linkages between IRC Sacramento programs and departments; proactively work to prevent program silos and implement processes and procedures that ensure clients are screened and connected to relevant programs throughout the agency;

·       Ensure that program departments comply with all contractual & reporting requirements, have a quality assurance plan, achieve required outcomes, provide quality services and meet the needs of clients and stakeholders;

·       Work with program managers to ensure appropriate tracking, spending, and general financial oversight;

·       Engage in partnership and donor outreach; develop and maintain critical stakeholder relationships.

·       In collaboration with program managers, monitor and lead program departments including: department training, monitoring, case files and documentation, new grant applications, program compliance, and finances.

 Job Requirements:

·       Master Degree in Social Work, Non-Profit Management, International Development, Public Administration or related field;

·       Minimum 5+ years of related professional experience in office management, grants oversight, and contracts; preferably in a social services or non-profit environment;

·       5+ Years of official and direct staff supervision, and demonstrated staff management skills;

·       Demonstrated experience with successful grant writing, proposal development, and project implementation;

·       Technical experience in at least one key program area;

·       Strong, demonstrated skill in donor compliance and donor relations;

·       Excellent communication skills both written and verbal;

·       Ability to comfortably and effectively speak in front of groups;

·       Good interpersonal and communication skills, conscientious, high degree of emotional intelligence and integrity;

·       Self-directed and thorough in working with procedures, data entry/record keeping; 

·       Highly organized with the ability to work under pressure with deadlines;

·       Ability to effectively work in a multi-cultural work environment.

Working Environment: 

·       Standard professional office environment with occasional opportunities to participate in community outreach and workshop events;

·       Full or partial remote delivery of services while IRC offices are closed due to CV-19;

·       Requires occasional weekend and/or evening work.
