Preschool Teacher

Growing Place Family Preschool is a small non-profit preschool in the Sunset serving 2-5 year olds. GPFP provides a nurturing environment for children and families, a space where teachers can thrive in their work and has a program that offers the best quality early childhood experience for young children. We are play-based, follow a Child Centered Emergent Curriculum and have a strong emphasis on social-emotional development and relationships.

We are looking for experienced teachers to join our team.

Full and Part-Time positions available (School hours are between 8am and 4pm).

Our teachers are facilitators in the learning experience and must be able to support children to:

• Know that they are competent and always loved.
• Develop creative and critical thinking skills.
• Expand their ability to recognize and express feelings appropriately.
• Develop the ability to resolve conflicts.
• Increase their ability for self-regulation.
• Build friendships with other children.
• Expand their imaginations and creativity.
• Explore and discover their world while experimenting with many different materials.

Candidates must have:

• Excellent communication skills
• A solid understanding of developmentally appropriate practices
• Be able to collaborate well with others
• Be flexible, fun, loving and energetic
• Be able to build strong relationships with families and children
• Teach from the heart

Requirements :

• Experience working in Early Childhood settings
• Criminal background clearance required
• Medical clearance required
• Applicants must have at least the 12 core Early Childhood Educational units (see below). Official transcripts required. Applicants with less than 12 units who are currently enrolled in coursework will be considered.

 Early Childhood Curriculum (3 units)

• Early Childhood Growth and Development (3 units)
• Child Family & Community (3 units)
• Orientation to Early Childhood Education (3 units)
