They support partner organizations in Africa, Asia and Latin America by providing loans, equity investments and capacity building. Oikocredit’s central office is located in Amersfoort, the Netherlands. They also have offices in three focus regions of Africa, Asia and Latin America, staffed by local experts who work directly with their partners.

Reason for the hire:  

Oikocredit is looking to hire an Equity Analyst based in India in their Regional Office in Hyderabad. The incumbent will be part of the Equity Investment Unit responsible for providing support to the Equity Officers in the assigned region across the lifecycle of the investment:

1.    Portfolio Support:

a.    Monitor and report on existing investments.

b.    Perform annual KYC, ESG and Social Performance assessments.

2.    New Investments:

a.    Identify and assess new investment opportunities.

b.    Prepare and present Investment collateral to the Investments Committee.

c.    Assist in closure of the new deals.

3.    Research: Primary and secondary research on new and existing sectors relevant for Oikocredit. 

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Support the Equity Team by performing general assessment and financial analysis of potential investees, by supporting in due diligence processes, including trips to potential investees and by supporting in market analysis research and identification of prospects or pipeline development.     
  • Monitors and manages portfolio holdings by providing analytical support for portfolio holding investments and investment opportunities, by implementing and managing regular reporting formats and procedures.
  • Reviews, analyses and summarizes on a monthly basis reports prepared by Investees and prepares portfolio review reports on a quarterly basis or when needed by the Equity Team.
  • Plans, monitors and controls legal closing processes, elaborates AML- CDD packages of approved investments based on Oikocredit’s legal guidelines and handles the hiring process of external consultants, if needed.
  • Assists in the management of social performance issues as appropriate and supports value creation of portfolio holdings for possible exit with solid social and financial returns.
  • Promotes the long-term success of Oikocredit’s equity endeavours and collaborates with internal and external colleagues to maximize impact and promote Oikocredit’s reputation in the industry.

Must Haves:                                                                                                                

  • The incumbent must have a Master’s degree in the field of finance, accounting or economics (preference for Chartered Accountants).
  • The incumbent bent should come with minimum 1-3 years’ experience in the banking or financial sector through debt or equity investments, direct involvement in the management/operations of a financial institution involved in the sector, M&A, financial advisory services, investment banking, consultancy, audit.
  • The incumbent must have a demonstrable track record in structuring financial models and in financial analysis.
  • The incumbent must have verbal and written proficiency in English and local Indian language.

Preferable:

  • The incumbent with impact investment background would be preferred.
  • The incumbent with an affinity and commitment to international development work and the social impact potential of the Oikocredit’s investments.
  • Experience working with other cultures is an advantage.
