Description

George Jackson Academy is looking for a Business Manager and Accountant for a unique private middle school serving academically gifted underprivileged boys in lower Manhattan. Responsibilities include:

  1. Managing the finances of this privately funded middle school for boys.
  2. Working directly with the head of school and the Director of Development to manage any special projects
  3. Including: tracking and coding donations and assisting in grant writing
  4. Preparation of monthly financial statements and managing the financial planning of the school.
  5. This would include budget preparation and tracking of actual performance to budget
  6. Recording of all journal entries and management of the trial balance, accounts payable, and payroll.
  7. Manage the external audit and be the liaison with the third party auditors.

Qualifications:

  1. Minimum of three years relevant accounting and office management experience
  2. BBA in accounting or finance is preferable
  3. Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  4. Proficient in Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  5. Working knowledge of Quick Books
  6. Knowledge of Donor Perfect is a discriminator
  7. Passion to make the world a better place
  8. References will be required
  9. The candidate should be hands on
  10. Experience in a school setting is a plus
