Position Summary:

Reporting to the Senior Director of Development, the Development Associate plays a key role in supporting all of the administrative operations of the development and communications department, provides support to the Chief Dev. Officer and undertakes key tasks for all events and campaigns. This important position ensures the smooth functioning and success of the team in reaching its’ development and communications goals. This position provides many opportunities for skill-building and professional development in fundraising, event planning,

volunteer coordination, project management, and non-profit operations. The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys a fast-paced collaborative team environment with a lot of variety in their daily tasks, has excellent attention

to detail, excellent organizational and interpersonal communications skills, and is looking to build a career in the nonprofit sector.    

Responsibilities:

  •  Manage day-to-day office operations to ensure smooth running of the department. This includes ordering supplies, scheduling meetings, clerical tasks, liaising with IT and finance departments.  
  • Collaborate with and support the other team members in planning and executing annual special events, including event logistics, volunteer recruitment and management, financial tracking, and sponsor stewardship. Events include the Annual Meeting, Steppin’ Out gala, Road to Wellness 5K Walk/Run, and the holiday drive.
  • Provide administrative support for the Chief Development Officer: schedule Board committee and donor meetings, conduct donor research and create briefing documents as needed.
  • Support Road to Wellness and Steppin’ Out Gala committees: schedule meetings, create meeting slides and materials, and write meeting minutes.  
  • Act as the primary manager of our fabulous, user-friendly, Bloomerang CRM database and manage accurate tracking of gifts and timely, accurate acknowledgement letters.   
  • Assist with the annual appeal campaigns, editing lists and coordinating mailings.
  • Assist with the creation of letters, annual reports, grant proposals, invitations and program book content, and any other needed collateral.
  • Assist with supervision of Road to Wellness interns to support summer training program. Supervise other volunteers as needed.        
  • In-person events: manage Check-In/registration process at events, recruit and supervise volunteers to help run different aspects of the events.
  • Create online registration forms as needed for all events; track rsvps. 

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree required.

Minimum of 1-2 years of nonprofit Development experience required.

Experience with donor databases preferred (Dimock uses Bloomerang).

Nonprofit event planning experience, preferred

Proactive, positive, and collaborative approach to work.

Creativity and a high level of energy.

Ability to work collaboratively and congenially as part of a small, fast-paced team.

Outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to work and communicate with diverse constituents, including colleagues, patients, families, donors, and vendors.

Outstanding project management, organizational, and time management skills.

Demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities and projects.

Outstanding attention to detail and ability to proofread work.

Strong oral and written communication skills. (Spanish language proficiency, a plus!)

Demonstrated ability to take initiative and work independently and prioritize work daily.

Significant technological proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to train others.

Flexibility to work early mornings, nights and weekends for events and meetings.

A desire to serve our Roxbury community and ensure access to high-quality health care!

The start date of January 3 is flexible and will depend on the chosen candidate. The start date could be earlier or later. There is also the capacity to work remotely on some days depending upon current tasks and projects.
