Urban Alliance (UA) is seeking a dynamic leader to serve as its Detroit Executive Director, leading regional operations, programming, and partnerships. The Detroit Executive Director is responsible for securing, managing, and growing revenue-generating employer partnerships; collaborating with the National Development team to secure philanthropic grants; negotiating and implementing strategic partnerships; and supervising regional program delivery to ensure fidelity to key outcomes. As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, the Detroit Executive Director represents UA publicly, manages regional staff, and maintains a strong organizational culture. This position reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer and collaborates closely with the Chief Operating Officer, Chief Development Officer, and Managing Director.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


Sales, Fundraising, and Relationship Management

  • Effectively communicate how UA’s mission addresses the needs of students served, the local community, school partners, and employer partners to grow its regional footprint 
  • Develop and implement regional sales and fundraising plans to secure and grow revenue-generating partnerships 
  • Collaborate with the National Development Team to solicit and secure grants from regional philanthropic organizations
  • Ensure accurate tracking of the sales pipeline via Salesforce
  • Represent the organization externally by participating in public speaking engagements, maintaining a robust social media presence, and regularly participating in or attending community events 
  • Maintain large regional partnerships with key stakeholders, including employer partners hosting UA intern cohorts  
  • Serve as a thought partner to youth workforce development peers in the field and collaborate with the National team on high-visibility publications and events 


Strategic Partnership Ideation and Implementation 

  • Identify, secure, and implement strategic partnerships to increase regional sustainability, competitiveness, and impact based on local market conditions 


Program Management

  • Lead a growing regional team, including by directly supervising the regional Program Director and Alumni Director to ensure programmatic delivery meets key deliverables and evaluation targets 
  • Cultivate and maintain high-level school district relationships, including by collaborating with the Director of Human Capital and Operations to negotiate the terms of related agreements 
  • Collaborate with the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Development Officer to establish annual budgets, and track and project expenses

Team Management

  • Facilitate strong working dynamics between the National and Detroit teams 
  • Build consensus around critical decisions that inform the Detroit region’s evolution  
  • Support the Detroit Program Director with recruiting and managing a high-performing team
  • Promote strong organizational health and culture throughout the region


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred 
  • At least five years of progressively senior experience required 
  • Passion for ensuring that all young people -- no matter their race, ethnicity, or socioeconomic

background -- have equal access to the skills training, paid work experiences, and professional networks needed to achieve economic mobility

  • Demonstrated track record of fundraising and/or sales, including relationship cultivation and partnership management 
  • Demonstrated experience leading and developing a team of at least four staff
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent cross-functional project management ability 
  • Strong organizational skills, time management, and attention to detail
  • Ability and desire to thrive in a fast-paced and highly entrepreneurial environment

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

  • Annual salary range: $100,000-$110,000 (negotiable commensurate with experience)
