    Salary Range*: $95,000 - $115,000

    Facing History & Ourselves is a global education non-profit organization that challenges teachers and students to use lessons of history to stand up to bigotry and hate.

    The Director of Regional Operations will oversee all operations and processes of Facing History’s regional teams. Reporting to the Chief Officer, Regional Operations and Organizational Equity, this position will ensure that: regional strategy and operations are linked by effective cross functional planning, communication and workflows; data monitoring and tracking systems reflect and drive to our goals; and standardized operating procedures are utilized throughout all regional departments and teams.

    The Director will serve as the Chief Officer’s lead partner and administrative director on regional operations. This person will participate in several cross-functional teams to develop and monitor systems and workflows to ensure excellent planning and communication across all departments and to ensure seamless experiences for our regions.

    As leaders representing seven U.S. regions across the United States, the Executive Directors (EDs) are positioned to be effective ambassadors of Facing History and amplify our ability to achieve our goals. These outcomes can best be maximized by providing the necessary mentorship and leadership coaching when needed, removing any structural barriers, ensuring appropriate resources, and positioning executive directors to be empowered as leaders in the organization and in their communities.

    Who You Are: You are a consummate operations professional that has experience developing, monitoring, and implementing cross-functional projects and programs. You have a proven track record of successfully executing complex and new operations initiatives, building cross functional relationships, as well as building collaboration with external partners. You are excited to work with regional teams and help provide operational support across the organization. You embrace change and are not afraid to bring new and more efficient processes to the organization. You are a stickler for accuracy, you anticipate challenges and proactively work to fix them. You are passionate about Facing History’s mission and our work in the field of education.

    Key responsibilities include:

    Regional Operations

    • Support Chief Officer as he works closely with Regional Executive Directors to ensure that all organization-wide goals and regional development activities are aligned
    • Partner with EDs to leverage systems towards maximum impact while retaining Facing History’s signatory high quality.
    • Strong emphasis and focus on development, operations, culture and communications coordinating cross-organizationally.
    • Participate in meetings (as assigned by Chief Officer) and conversation to support EDs effective communication and support organizational vision, themes, goals, regional, strategic alignment, and progress to staff, key funders, and advisory board members.
    • Development and Fundraising
    • Provide systems support for the Chief Officer as he works with EDs to ensure that fundraising, events and program goals are aligned and properly resourced and supported.
    • Work closely with EDs to track fundraising targets , and provide necessary administrative support to achieve those goals.
    • Ensure sharing of best practices among EDs and align / establish processes to reduce re-work and gain efficiency.

    Organizational Internal Communications

    • Work with the Director of Communications and the Marketing and Communications team to strengthen and improve our internal communications between Headquarters (HQ) and the regions. Might be assigned to write some communications for the Chief Officer.
    • Work to enhance regional coordination and consistency to help support ”One Facing History”

    Data Management

    • Supports the EDs’ use of Salesforce, Traction, Click Up as tools for documenting and monitoring progress towards yearly and quarterly goals assuring EDs and Directors of Development (DDs) efficient use of these databases.
    • Ensure all key ED functions have relevant data dashboards and monitor progress toward specific metrics.
    • Help to define measures of success and ensure that systems are in place to report on the progress of goals, plans, and activities across all ED functions.

    Budget Management

    • In partnership with the Chief Officer, and his executive assistant, drive the annual budget process for Regions, including setting up an annual calendar, updating templates as needed, preparing the regional budget, and ensuring alignment with the Finance office’s policies, practices, and calendars.
    • Help to monitor spending across all Regional functions

    Planning and Coordination Internally and Cross Teams

    • Support EDs efforts to track and monitor projects across all functional areas to ensure coordination across functions, including Marketing, Digital Ops, Finance, Growth and Engagement.
    • Ensure EDs and DDs have shared knowledge about all Development systems, workflows, policies, and protocols.

    Essential Skills / Qualities:

    • Minimum of 3 years of experience in operations or project management at senior level
    • Experience working in education and/or non-profit settings strongly preferred
    • Disciplined self-starter and independent worker with creative energy; Experience successfully working remotely strongly preferred
    • Effective interpersonal and relationship building skills; Able to work with people at all levels of an organization and successfully build relationships virtually
    • Strong Project Management skills and ability to manage multiple projects and shifts priorities as needed, experience with ClickUp a plus
    • Exceptional organizational skills with strong attention to detail a must
    • Excellent communication, writing, and editing skills
    • Creativity, communication, collaboration, and teamwork are key in this role
    • Excellent computer skills, including experience with Google Suite and Microsoft Office Suite
    • Cultural sensitivity and ability to work with a wide range of internal and external contacts from diverse backgrounds
    • Committed to Facing History’s mission and strong interest in learning about Facing History’s work
    • Demonstrated ability to manage complex processes and coordinate across functions
    • Experience with budgeting and financial management

    Remote First Hybrid Work Model: Facing History and Ourselves operates in a remote first/hybrid work model, allowing staff flexibility in both schedules and work locations. This particular position is home-based. Some travel is required.

    • We strive to offer competitive salaries commensurate with experience in a similar position. New hires are typically brought into the organization at a salary range between the minimum and midpoint depending on experience and in alignment with internal parity.
