Position Summary:

The Communications and PR Manager oversees the planning, organization, and delivery of integrated communications and PR initiatives that raise public awareness of Cultural Vistas international exchange programs and initiatives. They will be responsible for effectively informing and promoting Cultural Vistas, its people, its alumni, its impact and its mission.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Communications Planning & Development -

  • Responsible for all aspects of communications, including website management, content creation, media outreach, and social media.
  • Proactively identifies and advances opportunities to publicize organizational initiatives
  • Provides media relations support, with a focus on researching media contacts, developing news media relationships, and pitching stories that publicize organizational impact
  • Oversees content creation and planning process for organizational blog and newsletter; implementing successful list growing strategies, managing organization-wide email calendar and working with internal stakeholders to schedule emails to support their initiatives
  • Developing, writing, and editing messages and copy to develop the Cultural Vistas brand
  • Annually edits and manages updates and content for Cultural Vistas print collateral
  • Organize a yearly online engagement calendar to improved information sharing and collaboration
  • Monitors and tracks success for communications campaigns
  • Supports the Sr. Communications Director to establish and deliver Cultural Vistas' strategy, taking responsibility for ensuring key performance indicators are met
  • Proactively monitors external mentions of organization coordinates appropriate responses
  • Takes leading role with program and organizational marketing assessment and evaluation; actively uses and applies insight in the decision making process
  • Supports in-person and online events -including responsibilities for photography- internal marketing, and efforts to expand new media offerings
  • Monitors trends in online community management tools and applications

- Administration & Project Management -

  • Develops and manages online and social media advertising budget within established guidelines
  • Researches, analyzes and reports on options to streamline online communications efforts
  • Responsible for working effectively with both partner and internal teams to create and deliver offerings that drive results against established strategic objectives, timelines, and goals
  • Develops timelines for completion of projects and oversees implementation
  • Takes a proactive approach to improve business functions and workflow within department
  • Performs other duties as assigned to support the success of the marketing team

- Professional Development -

  • Develops and maintains industry knowledge by seeking out educational workshops, classes, training, and related endeavors
  • Extends organizational outreach through thought leadership; actively seeking outlets and fairs/conferences to publicize organization through marketing and personal exchange expertise
  • Actively applies outside learning to existing and new marketing initializes and campaigns
  • Works in accordance with the mission, goals, values, and strategic direction of Cultural Vistas

Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Web‐savvy with a knack for creating compelling stories and content
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with proven experience of writing for a range of audiences and creating content for digital and offline media
  • Demonstrable experience using online communications and social media in a purposeful and professional capacity; experience with photography and video a plus
  • Experience pitching stories of all types to a wide selection of media outlets, and working with reporters/editors/producers
  • Understanding and commitment to evaluation and data-driven decision making
  • Strong critical thinking skills, problem-solving skills, and analytical thinking
  • Strong analytical, writing and organizational skills

Computer Equipment and Software Experience Required:

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, specifically using Photoshop and InDesign in a professional capacity required, email marketing platforms and content management systems
  • Basic knowledge of HTML
  • Experience with website analytics and reporting tools
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite products
  • Experience with or exposure to video production, editing, and equipment preferred

Education and Experience Required:

  • Education: Bachelors degree required.
  • Years of Experience: Minimum 4-5 years of full-time marketing and communications experience.

Physical Demands of Position:

  • Domestic and international travel may be required. Work on weekends, holidays, and evenings may be required
