DreamWakers is an education technology nonprofit that works to close the opportunity gap for students in under-resourced schools by providing them with the unique opportunity to virtually meet professionals from diverse backgrounds, identities, and perspectives beyond their city limits. DreamWakers virtually links exceptional professionals working across a variety of industries in the public and private sectors with 4th- to 12th-grade classrooms for free. Each virtual session, called a “flashchat,”  is designed to shed light on the real-world applicability of course lessons, while at the same time empowering students to prepare for personal and professional opportunities.

Each team member at DreamWakers plays an important part of our small but growing organization, bringing valuable insights and experiences. The Program Coordinator joins us in being:

  • Self-motivated and full of initiative, with the ability to work independently and in collaboration with others; and
  • Genuinely committed to the mission and vision of DreamWakers.

For this role, we also seek an individual with:

  • Exceptional written and oral communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Superior attention to detail, including the ability to appropriately plan, organize, and execute multiple, sometimes competing demands efficiently in a challenging environment; and
  • Commitment to high-quality work and strong ability to follow through on responsibilities.

Preference will be given to candidates who have experience in:

  • Working in an education setting or with educators/students;
  • Social media, especially the creation of new and engaging video content on formats like TikTok/Reels); and/or
  • Strategic communications.

A bachelor’s degree — or an Associate’s degree plus a minimum of two years of full-time professional experience — is required.

The Program Coordinator will support a diverse set of activities, working with all aspects of DreamWakers programming and operations and with a particular focus on communications responsibilities.  Primary duties include:

  • Flashchats. Host live virtual sessions directly with students, teachers, and world-class speakers; meticulously collect and input impact data; provide flashchat summaries, support recruitment and logistics of flashchat scheduling.

  • Communications. Develop blog posts, newsletters, website content, and other communications materials.
  • Administration. Support the ongoing administration of DreamWakers operational, administrative, and finance activities.
  • Event Planning and Fundraising. Support the planning and execution of events, campaigns, and other fundraising strategies.
