Lands End Exhibition Visit Coordinator Job description

In its ongoing commitment to addressing urgent issues through the presentation of art about place, the FOR-SITE Foundation, in partnership with the National Park Service, presents Lands End (November 7, 2021, through March 27, 2022). Curated by FOR-SITE Foundation Executive Director Cheryl Haines, this timely exhibition will be installed in the former Cliff House and brings together work by 26 contemporary artists and collectives from around the globe to reflect on the fragility of the planet’s health and its manifold intersections with critical issues, from human rights to racial equity, sustainability, and forced migration.

Lands End at the former Cliff House is on view from Sunday November 7, 2021, to Sunday March 27, 2022. The exhibition is open Thursday to Sunday, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. FOR-SITE FOUNDATION looks for 3 to 5 Lands Ends Exhibition Visit Coordinators.

Overview of the position

The Lands Ends Exhibition Visit Coordinator represents FOR-SITE at the former Cliff House for the duration of the show. This role is instrumental to build a welcoming visitor experience. She/He/They oversees the operations on site during viewing hours and coordinates the team of volunteer Art Guides. She/He/They is placed under the responsibility of FOR-SITE Executive Director and collaborates closely with For-Site staff in charge of Administration and Visitor Services, Curatorial Affairs, Exhibition Construction.

Work organization

14 to 21 hours per week including a minimum of one day per weekend. Exhibition visit coordinators’ schedules will be organized based on their availability at the best of FOR-SITE abilities.

Hourly rate: $27

  • Poised, courteous, patient, and engaging. At ease working in front of an audience, and as part of a team. Ability to communicate with, and to adapt to individuals of all walks of life. Reliable and organized The position requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time

She/He/They is placed under the responsibility of FOR-SITE Executive Director and collaborates closely with For-Site staff in charge of Administration and Visitor Services, Curatorial Affairs, Exhibition Construction.

Key Duties

●      Coordinate the Art Guides schedule and their placement in the exhibition space

●      Provide ongoing guidance, support, and training to Art Guides

●      Communicate information seamlessly to the on-site team, to other exhibition visit coordinators and other FOR-SITE staff as needed

●      Contribute to  a positive and dynamic team spirit among Art Guides

●      Turn on and off the exhibition following the procedures defined by FOR-SITE curatorial staff

●      Open and close the building enforcing strictly the opening and closing procedures defined by FOR-SITE curatorial staff and the National Park Service

●      Coordinate as needed with the National Park Service Staff of the Golden Gate national recreational park and FOR-SITE team

●      Verify that artworks security, visitors’ safety, and COVID-19 protocols are correctly enforced during viewing hours and escalate any questions and issues to be addressed by other FOR-SITE staff

●      Escalate any issue related to the artworks, the exhibition signage, the audio-visual equipment, some features of the building

●      Fill in the role of Art Guide as needed

●      May perform other duties related to the visitor experience.
