Position Summary: The mission of Children’s Aid is to help children in poverty succeed and thrive. Children’s Aid works with children, youth and their families in targeted low-income communities from infancy through young adulthood, providing a range of services to meet physical, socio-emotional, educational and family stability needs. The P.O.W.E.R program funded by the NYS Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services (OASAS) seeks to educate children and youth on the dangers and consequences of alcohol and drug use. The P.O.W.E.R program delivers evidence-based programs (EBP’s) counseling and positive alternatives to prevent and reduce alcohol and substance use utilizing the prevention framework.

The POWER program is seeking creative and innovation person(s) to fill the Prevention Facilitator position. The Prevention Facilitator will be responsible to recruit, train and implement Evidenced Based Programs such as Positive, Parenting Program (Triple P), Support to Students Exposed to Trauma (SSET), Strengthening Families Program (SFP) and other Evidenced Based Programs (EBP’s). The Prevention Facilitator(s) will be responsible for collecting, monitoring and analyzing data.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver Evidenced Based Programs (EBP’s) to youth and families in 4 boroughs
  • Recruit and engage participants for Evidenced Based Programs (EBP’s) within and out of the agency
  • Create and host engagement activities for youth and families
  • Establish and attend weekly trainings, and online and in person meetings
  • Create and develop partnerships with outside agencies to deliver programs
  • Develop schedules and systems to deliver programs to participants
  • Collect, monitor, analyze and enter data into electronic systems
  • Attend and participate in EBP’s training in person and virtual
  • Develop relationships with children and their families
  • Actively participate and attend coalition meetings
  • Help design, plan and lead the implementation of special projects in and out of program
  • Plan, teach, supervise, and organize games and activities to engage participants
  • Assist in activities or tasks necessary to ensure an orderly operation of the program (e.g. supervise children during supper and ensure all equipment is properly signed out, cleaned and returned)
  • Attend regular staff meetings, trainings and work cooperatively with other staff members in the program and in the school

Qualifications: 

  • High School Diploma required; Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Social Work, Health, Sciences or related field preferred
  • 3-5 years’ experience working with adolescents and families required
  • Experienced in facilitating and implementing programs
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft, Excel
  • Experience working in a leadership role in Prevention, Substance use and/or misuse
  • Proven track record using data to inform and improve practice linked to positive program outcomes
  • Ability to be punctual, responsible, have a positive attitude and provide encouragement to children
