About Lee Montessori Public Charter School

Lee Montessori is a public charter school in Northeast Washington, DC that currently serves children ages 3-7 in primary and lower elementary level Montessori classrooms Our mission is to foster a lifetime love of learning and cultivate independence among DC schoolchildren.  Our school will use the student-centered Montessori method, an evidence-based approach to closing the opportunity gap.  Lee Montessori PCS will create a peaceful, multi-age learning environment for public preschool and elementary-aged children that foster the physical, social, emotional, and academic growth and development of students and produces life-long learners. Before Care/After Care Teacher Position Description

Under the direction of the Site Coordinator, the Before/After Care Teacher will assist with the logistics related to the operation of morning and afternoon school-day activities and after care.  This position will begin at the end of August until the end of the school year.  There is a possibility of continuing through the summer.

 Major Duties and Responsibilities

1. Assist with school day activities and the transition to after school;

2. Daily room setup and breakdown, including but not limited to moving materials, supplies, and equipment necessary and setting up classrooms; 

3. Student snack distribution and recordkeeping; 

4. Administrative support, including but not limited to recording and monitoring attendance and following up on after-school enrollment; 

5. Maintaining and updating paper and electronic enrollment and attendance files; 

6. Provide coverage for instructors when they are absent;

7. Communicate any urgent concerns immediately to school administration; 

8. Perform additional administrative and support duties as needed;


  1. Have a firm commitment to upholding the school’s mission.
  2. Possess a high school diploma, Associate’s/Bachelor’s preferred (or in process).
  3. At least 2 years working with children, preferably in an early childhood setting.
  4. Experience working with students and staff from economically diverse backgrounds.
  5. Exceptional attention to detail and follow-through.
  6. Professionalism at all times.
  7. Strong experience working in a team.
  8. Strong group management skills.
  9. Strong commitment to social justice and education equity. 


Monday, 12:30 – 6:00 pm; Tuesday – Friday, 1:00 – 6:00 pm AND/OR Monday – Friday, 6:30 – 9:00 am. 

Compensation and Benefits

$12 – 17 per hour, based on experience.
