The Development Manager, Special Events, plays a key role in the success of the Brookline Center’s development efforts. Reporting to the Chief Development Officer and working closely with the entire development team, the Development Manager plans and produces signature fundraising events and smaller engagement and cultivation events throughout the year. The Development Manger manages the Team Brookline Boston Marathon program and staffs Women at the Center, our women’s philanthropy effort. Across all activities, the Development Manager strengthens donor engagement; supports volunteer fundraisers; and maximizes net philanthropic support for the Center’s work.

A snapshot of your work on the team:

• Producing seamless, high impact events that increase philanthropy and deepen engagement.

• Recruiting, stewarding, and serving as a primary contact for donors, sponsors, and volunteers.

• Building and operationalizing event plans, timelines, and budgets

• Maintaining and analyzing event data to support new and enhanced event strategies.

• Partnering with communications staff and event vendors.

• Managing all event-related technologies.

Essential responsibilities:

• Plan and produce Women at the Center events and special initiatives, including event strategy, sponsor solicitation, donor outreach and stewardship, committee and volunteer management, communications content creation, collaboration with event production vendors, tracking and reporting budget and fundraising results.

• Plan and produce Believe in Brookline Kids annual gala, including event strategy, sponsor solicitation, donor outreach and stewardship, committee and volunteer management, communications content creation, auction development, collaboration with event production vendors, tracking and reporting budget and fundraising results.

• Manage the Team Brookline Boston Marathon program, including recruitment and runner support, collaboration with coaching staff, team and stakeholder management, meeting and event production, oversight of Marathon Monday activities, sponsor solicitation and stewardship, social media and volunteer management, tracking and reporting budget and fundraising results.

• Serve as liaison for the Brookline Center’s participation in the Team Brookline program.

• Identify special event opportunities and develop new initiatives, including broadening third party fundraising.

• Work with program staff to curate client stories and program information for events.

• Partner with communications staff on creation of event materials, appeals, outbound marketing, social media, and other communications.

• Support gift accounting and entry to ensure accuracy of data.

What you bring to the role:

• Strong interest in mental health and the work of the Brookline Center.

• At least two years’ work experience in nonprofit events and development.

• Excellent communication and organizational skills, superb attention to detail.

• Proven project and event management skills, demonstrated ability to balance multiple priorities.

• Ease working with staff, donors, volunteers, and other stakeholders.

• Prior experience with Constant Contact/Mailchimp, WordPress, and Canva.

• Experience using a CRM database (preferably a fundraising platform).

• Desire to be a part of a fast-paced environment and a small and mighty team.

• Ability to work independently, collaboratively, and reliably.

• Bachelor’s degree preferred.

• Driver's license and access to a vehicle when needed.

Work Environment: Hybrid work schedule with days onsite at our Brookline office and days remote (may vary depending on public health conditions and work needs). Requires travel to events and other locations in and around Greater Boston. Occasional early morning, evening, or weekend work.
