Purpose:                      Schedules and supervises transportation services offered to senior adult centers. Schedules and coordinates fleet of buses and medical transportation to and from homes and facilities located in catchment communities.  

Education:                   Associate degree minimum

Responsibilities:           Supervise and coordinate fleet of buses, drivers and escorts. Work with taxi services throughout community districts 8 through 14 in scheduling medical transportation services for senior adults. Assign drivers and escorts to bus routes based on experience and sundry needs. Responsible for internal reports and monthly reports to supervisory agency. Must be able to monitor and calculate daily and monthly travel costs. Supervise Transportation Aide and regulate transportation requests. Must have knowledge of auto (bus) mechanics and operations to schedule repairs and maintenance as needed. Must have prior supervisory experience and ability to work with elderly. Good communication skills and computer literacy a must. Bi-lingual preferred.

The Jamaica Service for Older Adults, Inc., (JSPOA), is a non-profit human service agency servicing elders and their families. The Transportation Coordinator reports to the Associate Executive Director and is responsible for scheduling the transportation services provided to the clients within the agency’s senior adult centers and through the catchment community districts. The Transportation Coordinator will assist the Associate Executive Director in all aspects of the daily transportation activities.
