Literacy Inc. (LINC) Job Description

Job Title: LINC Director of Programs, Full-Time

Position Summary

The Director of Programs manages LINC’s program implementation strategy and curriculum development; ensuring high quality, replicable programs that help children, and their families, achieve literacy success. The candidate will be responsible for refining and improving LINC’s programs, ensuring a solid outcomes management process, and deepening the impact of our organization in alignment with our mission.


Represent LINC as an expert in early childhood and early literacy programs that engage families in developmentally appropriate literacy achievement:

  • Promote LINC and its mission
  • Work with senior management to develop program practices that deeply engage LINC’s communities and stakeholders
  • Keep current with academic literature and recent studies about community-based literacy support
  • Be a source of knowledge about out-of-school time strategies that support educational achievement

Direct the implementation and development of LINC’s programs and engagement strategy across NYC:

  • Serve as lead developer for LINC’s Comprehensive Literacy Model (CLM) that results in a replicable, high-quality curriculum
  • Manage program implementation and outcomes by training and coaching LINC Community Staff, providing leadership through:
  • Ongoing outcomes management and quality assessment
  • Supporting Managers in the ongoing improvement of delivery of services
  • Facilitate programs with schools, libraries and other community partners that includes communications, recruitment and retention plans
  • Team with fellow directors to develop and achieve yearly program plan and goals
  • Document and share program accomplishments internally and externally
  • Develop and Improve CLM aligned program materials that deeply engage LINC’s participants and advance program goals

Manage and analyze program evaluation and assessment data:

  • Ensure that assessment tools and outcomes management process are implemented for all programs
  • Manage the administration and collection evaluations and assessments
  • Work with our Data Evaluation team to make decisions on program improvements and long-range program planning

Cultivate strong, productive relationships across New York City:

  • Assist senior management in building and maintaining strong relationships with supporters
  • Cultivate working relationships with educators, community-based organizations and local non-profits to understand how to better serve our communities

Performs other related tasks as assigned.


Bachelors Degree required; Masters preferred

5+ years early education program development experience required

Excellent communicator with success working with diverse audiences; Computer literate

Spanish language ability, a plus

Ability to work independently and as a member of a diverse team

Experience teaching and working with NYC DOE a plus
