About the Everytown Survivor Network

The Everytown Survivor Network (ESN) is a nationwide community of survivors working together to end gun violence. The Survivor Network amplifies the power of diverse survivor experiences to put a human face on our nation’s gun violence crisis. We connect survivors to build community, offer trauma-informed programs and trainings, and provide information on and referrals to direct services. 

Responsibilities:

The Everytown Program Manager, Survivor Network (Advocacy and Campaigns) will help to elevate the voices of gun violence survivors in Everytown’s campaigns and cultural initiatives. The Program Manager's responsibility will include:

  • Managing the Moments That Survive website, including assisting with moderating, approving and tagging stories as well as working closely with other departments to develop content and elevate the site and diverse survivor stories throughout the year
  • Strategizing and attending organizational meetings with the goal of elevating survivor voices in cultural campaigns and initiatives
  • Liaise with survivor volunteers in campaigns work, including as speakers, to do media, in and communicate digital and social asks for Wear Orange, Moments That Survive, suicide awareness month, domestic violence awareness, gun violence memorial projects and other campaigns as assigned 
  • Managing volunteer leadership groups to gather input and buy-in from volunteer leaders on key campaigns
  • Identifying survivors who can lead survivor focused social trainings in coordination with Digital and organizing those trainings throughout the year
  • Drafting communications to the Everytown Survivor Network about key campaigns
  • Developing and updating trainings with volunteers about ways to participate in key cultural campaigns
  • Managing Everytown Survivor Network private Facebook groups and developing content for Facebook groups throughout the year to encourage connection and participation in advocacy 
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Skill Requirements 

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 3-5 years of professional advocacy work for non-profit advocacy organizations, political campaigns, or similarly relevant work, including managing or working closely with volunteers
  • Exceptional writing, copy-editing, and proofreading skills
  • The ability to tell powerful stories that inspire people to take action
  • 2+ years professional experience writing, editing and preparing content for campaigns with demonstrable results 
  • Experience working with populations who may have experienced trauma
  • Proficient at using social media, and able to communicate with volunteers about how to effectively use Twitter and other social platforms  
  • A demonstrated ability to synthesize policy and legislative materials into a compelling copy that will drive grassroots action
  • The ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects
  • A desire to work in a fast-paced, campaign-like environment within a growing, diverse team with unpredictable hours in rapid response moments.
  • Must have strong written communications and oral presentation skills
  • Spanish speaking is a plus
  • Passion for the gun violence prevention cause
  • Strong project management skills 
  • Experience and ability with facilitating groups, trainings and meetings 
  • Ability to work with deadlines and under pressure
  • Ability to maintain emotional well-being under stress and exercise personal boundaries 
  • Ability to travel within a state or region and to occasionally attend events on nights and weekends
  • Self-motivated
