IASP is recruiting for an Editorial Coordinator. This position provides editorial and administrative support to contribute to the daily operations of the IASP journals: PAIN and Pain Reports. The ideal candidate will be meticulously organized and interested in scholarly publishing.


  • Provide support in managing the operations of PAIN and Pain Reports, including administrative and clerical tasks.
  • Process manuscripts submitted via the web-based Editorial Manager system.
  • Assist with smooth progression of journal manuscripts from initial submission through peer review to final decision.
  • Check manuscripts to ensure that files are in proper format with required author forms.
  • Assist editors, reviewers, and authors with technical problems and status questions.
  • Perform changes to submitted files as needed prior to manuscripts being forwarded to reviewers or publisher.
  • Assist with payment process for Open Access fees.
  • Process video submissions.
  • Track data on review process for Section Editors and provide status reports.
  • Stage issues prior to publication.
  • Serve as publications liaison to marketing department which includes provision of social media content.
  • Update internal and external databases, websites, and resources as required.
  • Communicate with internal and external stakeholders, including authors, editors, and societies.
  • Liaise with colleagues in other IASP departments as needed.
  • Complete ad hoc special projects as needed and assist other IASP staff who work on the content and issues related to the journals.


Knowledge of online manuscript submission software/systems.

Proficient in use of MS Office; basic understanding of Adobe Photoshop, Excel, and Acrobat.

Content management system experience.


Strong demonstration of excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Excellent customer service skills.

Professional demeanor; sensitive to social practices in other cultures.

Ability to work independently.
