The Organization:

The Wardensville Garden Market + Bakery is a nonprofit farm that employs local youth, encouraging their entrepreneurial spirit through small-scale sustainable farming in an education-rich environment. Our goal is to enhance the knowledge of local youth by teaching them how to run and sustain a successful small business, and by offering opportunities to pursue new career paths, through classes and scholarships. We reinvest 100% of every purchase made at the market and bakery back into the program to hire and inspire even more young people.


The Position:

We are looking for looking for a high-performing assistant who is excited to juggle a wide array of tasks in support of our educational and external relations activities. Our ideal candidate will be both extremely organized and extremely flexible, with a positive, can-do spirit to support our Education and External Relations team. 


Core Responsibilities:

·      Serve as the right hand to the Director for Education and External Relations in achieving our goals, particularly administrative and operational.

·      Create and maintain organizational systems for everything, including electronic and paper files for educational offerings.

·      Organize meetings, check-ins; maintain agendas, take notes, and track follow-up actions.

·      Work with the Director to plan, sequence, execute and follow up from events and classes as well as key development and marketing (social media, press releases, etc) deadlines.

·      Serve as project manager for events, developing and updating plans, including budgets. Help ensure all roles are clear and that tasks are executed promptly, including invitations, tracking rsvps, space set-up, catering, clean up, thank-yous etc. 

Hourly pay commensurate with experience + benefits.


Qualifications:

  • Results oriented: has a track record of achievement and producing results; perseveres despite obstacles.
  • Project management skills: stays on top of multiple projects without dropping any balls, plans backwards and anticipates obstacles, identifies and involves stakeholders appropriately, uses resources wisely.
  • Organizational skills: Incredible attention to detail and capacity to track records, files and events accurately.The ideal candidate is the kind of person who notices when an apostrophe is missing or a decimal is in the wrong place.
  • Self-starter who works independently, and organizes time and priorities to meet deadlines.
  • Creative innovator and problem solver with a strong sense of ownership over tasks. Is flexible and willing to do what it takes to get the job done.
  • Sense of humor and ability to laugh at oneself.
  • Thrives in an entrepreneurial environment, and is energetic, resourceful, and flexible.


The following are a plus, but not required:

  • 1-2 years nonprofit work experience.
  • Demonstrated ability planning and running events.
  • Exceptional communicator (writing, speaking, presenting).
  • Knowledge of Excel, Google products and bonus points for candidates with PowerPoint expertise.
  • Experience with Asana, Salesforce, Quickbooks and other project management tools.
  • Social media or marketing experience.
