The Assistant NCRD Secretary provides administrative and managerial support to the National Community Relations and Development (CRD) Secretary; in the absence of the CRD Secretary, provides leadership and guidance to the CRD staff in the areas of Operations, Emergency Disaster Services, Fundraising and Communications. Serves as an NHQ Advisory Board liaison. Ensures that national funding initiatives and marketing campaigns are appropriate based on Salvation Army specifications and current needs and trends.
Monitors direct mail, direct marketing campaigns and on-line fundraising throughout the nation and provides consultative services to enhance aspects of these campaigns and maximize results; works closely with National Headquarters and CRD sections (such as Fund Development, Community Relations, Communications) to reduce duplication of efforts and better serve the donors and TSA users of the data systems. Serves as the National liaison to direct marketing vendors and monitors vendor activity and measures success.
Serves as a resource to Territorial Development Directors in areas of leadership development with the Territorial fundraising staff; researching new and emerging trends in the areas of fundraising. Works closely with the various Donor Management Systems’ implementation to ensure successful roll-out and integration with Community Relations and Development Department, Resource Development and Direct Marketing fundraising needs.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration, Marketing or a related field with specialized training in Fund Raising Management highly desirable and Ten years of progressively responsible experience in fund raising and fund raising management with proven experience in one to one fund raising and non-profit communications and public relations or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Knowledge and support of The Salvation Army mission and philosophy with specific support of both spiritual and social program activities. Knowledge of up-to-date principles and practices of one-to-one individual, corporate, foundation, grant-seeking, and special events fund raising. Knowledge of and ability to interpret charitable solicitation laws, The Salvation Army policies, and local, state, and federal laws as they relate to fund raising and charitable solicitation. Knowledge of the recruitment and selection process to secure quality resource development personnel throughout the US Territories. Knowledge of donor records management and administration as well as data and trend analysis.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
Valid driver’s license
National Society of Fund Raising Executives (NSFRE) Certification as Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) is preferred.
