Press Outreach - Six Month Consultant Position Description


Amazon Frontlines is searching for a part-time International Press Outreach Consultant on a 6-month contract to support our communications team in ensuring that the work of Amazon Frontlines and the voices of our Indigenous partners reach a broad global audience to help shape regional and global messaging on the importance of Indigenous autonomy and resistance in the fight against climate change.


The Role (aka what you’ll do)


  • Create, edit and curate content for press releases, press advisories, op-eds, letters to the editor, fact sheets, multimedia packages, and other materials.
  • Identify proactive and reactive opportunities to drive media engagement for the organization and our Indigenous allies in the global press.
  • Pitch stories with media value regionally and internationally.
  • Provide remote support for press conferences, media briefings, and other events.
  • Develop talking points, statements, and messaging to effectively and proactively frame issues and drive coverage for the organization and Indigenous partners.
  • Identify, brief, and train staff and Indigenous allies to act as spokespeople.
  • Manage incoming media requests and the distribution of Amazon Frontlines’ audiovisual and photographic archive, copyrights, and other creative assets.


Who you are and must-haves to be successful in the role: 

  • You have ample experience handling high-level press relationships internationally.
  • You thrive on making complex issues easily digestible and inspiring to a diverse audience of journalists. 
  • You are fluent/bilingual in English and Spanish (both verbal and written). This position’s aim will be primarily international press in English that reaches audiences in North America and Europe, therefore the ability to independently write, edit, and produce stellar communications content in English will be absolutely vital to your success in this role. 
  • You demonstrate humility and curiosity when giving and receiving feedback.
  • You love to wrestle with ideas in a kind and curious way and are hard to rattle and ready to laugh. 


Location

No requirements, work can be remote. Ability to travel to Ecuador for short periods of time is ideal.


Interviews will be conducted on an ongoing basis. The position will remain open until filled.
