The Washington Center for Equitable Growth is a nonprofit research and grantmaking organization dedicated to advancing evidence-backed ideas and policies that promote strong, stable, and broad-based economic growth. Equitable Growth engages with academics and policymakers to better understand economic inequality in the United States and its impact on economic growth. Important elements of Equitable Growth's mission include in-house, academic-quality research, and grantmaking to academic economists and other social scientists to support new research on inequality, mobility, growth, and related issues. Building a stronger bridge between academics and the policy community and elevating researchers and their work with the news media are both key to our work to make new research relevant, accessible, and informative to the policymaking process.


Equitable Growth has an immediate opening for a Senior Digital Marketing Associate, who will play a key role in elevating cutting-edge research on economic inequality and its impact on economic growth and stability, as well as evidence-based policies that emerge from that research. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 to 5 years of experience working on email marketing campaigns and proven success with social media projects. The ideal candidate will have experience developing effective, cross-channel digital strategies that drive engagement and achieve organizational results. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and executing a variety of cross-channel digital engagement strategies for Equitable Growth programs. The successful candidate will also be responsible for assisting the Digital Communications Director with planning and executing daily social media and digital communications activities across the organization.


Responsibilities:


  • Build and thoroughly test emails using Equitable Growth's marketing automation platform Marketo
  • Create and execute email campaign sends and test multiple times a week, sometimes daily
  • Test, optimize, and segment audience lists based on engagement targets
  • Create A/B test plans to continuously optimize emails for better engagement
  • Develop and refine on-message copy for a variety of digital content, including social media and email
  • Depending on campaign requirements, act as a day-to-day digital and/or functional lead on a variety of digital campaign activities, including live-tweeting events
  • Collaborate with Design and Editorial teams, as well as other Communications staff, on the development of visual assets for digital content
  • Monitor real-time social media alerts for mentions of Equitable Growth and its campaigns, working with the Digital Communications Director to take appropriate action
  • Contribute to the planning and development of Equitable Growth's social media calendar
  • Contribute to the development of social media management standards, policies, and rules of engagement for social channels
  • Collaborate with Digital Communications Director, other Communications staff, and program staff to develop compelling digital content plans
  • Contribute to the advancement of Equitable Growth's approach to editorial and content strategy that effectively engages audiences across digital channels
  • Keep abreast of the latest digital trends to inform creative approaches, as well as to aid internal knowledge sharing


Requirements and qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required; minimum of 3 years of professional marketing experience, preferably in a nonprofit setting
  • Email automation experience in Marketo a plus; experience with other comparable email marketing software required
  • Exposure to using social media tools for drafting content, such as Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn for cause/business goals; experience managing organizational social accounts preferred
  • Experience creating multichannel campaigns using Push, SMS, and email, among others
  • Basic working knowledge of HTML
  • Graphic design experience a plus
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects simultaneously, perform in a fast-paced environment, and maintain a high level of detail and accuracy
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Comprehensive personal computer skills; demonstrated spreadsheet, word processing, and database management capabilities required
